This is the preserved farm and stage coach stop of the Mahaffe family. Very well presented history, including treatment of the "bleeding Kansas" troubles which preceded the Civil War. The farm buildings were locked when I visited, but worth a walk, anyway. The corn was truly "as high as an elephant's eye". Check beforehand for open times and tours.

The whole family enjoyed the stagecoach ride. A lot of history was learned about on our trip. The whole family had a great time here. Thanks

Our last day in KC we went here. It is on the Sante Fe Trail. It is just like it was in stagecoach days. The staff was wonderful and they all answered our questions and were very knowledgeable. We even got to ride a stagecoach. This is great for kids too. It had been privately owned of course and we... More

I had not been through since about 1989! It is so much bigger and better! The heritage center is the place to start and get all the background. Then visit the historic old house and the living history actors. You simply will not regret this attraction and make sure you get in on a stage coach ride! Don't forget the... More

We really enjoyed it. To be fair ...We like history. We took our 7 year old granddaughter. She feed chickens, was able to pet a sheep, a horse and ride a stagecoach. We loved the people friendly, patient, and kind. The only regret I had was not asking someone to take our picture on the stagecoach peeping out of the... More

The staff here is incredibly nice and knowledgeable! My daughter was thrilled to learn to "drive" (the horses, that is). We really enjoyed talking with the staff to learn more about the Mahaffie family and the area.

The Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop finally received some professional management a few years ago, and you can sure tell the difference. Site is well kept. Employees are helpful and many dress in period dress and have some knowledge of what they are talking about. Stagecoach rides are fun for kids and adults. Watching them farm with draft horses is also an... More

There is a lot to do here, but it's not overwhelming. It's the exact amount of whelming you could ask for with a family of young kids. Plan for a good 2-3 hours. And do visit the museum portion before you head out on the farm itself. It's short and it has things that the kids will probably get into.... More
