The Robert Dole Institute offers a great history of the life and service to his country of one of the under-appreciated members of American military and political society. Take time and explore the displays of Bob's life and service; attend one of the presentations, or use the reference areas provided to study American history.

Educational, well put together, and the largest non-presidential political library. Definitely worth a visit.

You need to be American to appreciate the content of the Institute, but not to admire the two remarkable stained-glass windows - they make the visit worthwhile!

I love museums and history. This is a great place to learn more about Bob Dole and political history if you are into that sort of thing. The displays offer a different perspecitve on Washington D.C. The building is beautiful and the lobby impressive. If your a history buff, its a must see in Lawrence.

Bob Dole is a cherished Kansan, and this building on the KU campus is a wonderful celebration of his accomplishments. The museum section has a very attractive collection that tells the story of Senator Dole's life from his childhood in Russell, Kansas to his presidential candidacy. In addition, the Dole Institute is a vibrant center of political discussion, hosting interesting... More

Attend , if you can the first Thurs. of each month when there is a lecture by someone from the Command and Gen. Staff College. They make history come alive. Also take time to see the life and times of a great American on display. There are other speakers and special events which are worthwhile and NEVER a charge!

Architecturally striking, the Dole Institute of Politics s a fitting tribute to a man who devoted his entire life to public service. The museum space does an excellent job of tracing Bob Dole's humble upbringing in Russell, Kansas; his wartime service and devastating battlefield injury; his fight to overcome disability; and his remarkable Washington career and ability to get things... This is a museum of Bob Dole and an area for events sponsored by the Dole Institute. The museum shows the history of Bob Dole. The veterans wall is especially moving. The Dole Institute sponsors events throughout the year. Check their website for details.

Mr. Dole is an American Hero, a distinguished former senator (when that was in fact a distinguished position), a consummate politician, and a great American. It's worth a visit to honor Mr. Dole. The highlight to me is the incredibly beautiful American flag window. It's best seen in the afternoon when not in the shade. Unfortunately (IMHO) the view of... More

The displays are informative and nicely presented. Allow about 30 minutes for your visit. If you can, pre-arrange for a tour of the archives which are not open to the public.
