Good people here who run the visitor center in Lawrence located in a beautiful restored station. I found it relaxing to get my bearings here with WiFi and benches to watch passing trains.

The visitor center is a converted railroad depot on an operational track. It's near the Kansas River and Lawrence mountain bike trails. I stop to use the clean facilities and get up-to-date brochures, roadmaps, trailmaps and state park information for Kansas. They also have a couple of picnic tables and lovely native flower plantings.

Everything you need for discovering the area. Road maps, hiking maps, lodging information, dining information; it's all here with the friendly staff. Also a short film to view.

You can find info here that covers the entire area of northeast Kansas. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. The place can also be reserved for small gatherings such as receptions and celebrations. It is located in an old RR station that has been redone and is a very beautiful building. There is also a statue by local sculpture... More

Staff can answer any and all questions about what to do and see in Lawrence. A vast collection of maps, brochures, fact sheets, etc. Be cool, go to school on Kansas and start your education here.

This refurbished train depot, which was saved from demolition, is the perfect setting for the Lawrence Visitors Center. Lots of information about the city and region and friendly people who will make sure you find the info you are searching for. Bonus that train memorabilia is on display and that real trains pass by!

A beautifully restored historic train depot on lovely landscaped grounds and decorated by a wonderful flower garden and fountain. As picturesque as this setting is and as meticulously maintained the grounds are we were disappointed to see the lovely memorial for the fallen soldiers of Douglas County completely covered with cobwebs and cotton from nearby trees. The Jayhawk on parade... More

Before stopping by our hotel, The Best Western Lawrence, we stopped by the visitor's center. It's located at the Old Train Depot and hold some serious history to it. The flower garden and trees in front of the facility are beautiful and smell exquisite. The personnel working at the center were very helpful with all that was around Lawrence. Thank... More

Located in North Lawrence, we stopped by the Center when we were first starting to look for a home in Lawrence, and picked up a wealth of free info. They also have space to rent out for groups and receptions.

The Lawrence Visitor Center is housed in the restored Union Pacific Railroad depot, which is adjacent to a very active line. A tribute to the restoration effort is the fact that you can visit with the visitor center volunteers while the trains are whizzing by only 30 feet away and not have a bit of trouble with your conversation.
