On the University of Kansas campus, opened in 1903, this beautiful building of native sandstone with features sculpted by Italian artisans, is the most beautiful building on campus. But, the true treasure are inside. It was originally built to house the natural science specimens collected by noted naturalist L.L.Dyche, including the horse Comanche, the only "survivor" of the Custer's Last... More

My kids and I love the KU Natural History Museum. Exhibits are interesting and the newer technology and rotating activities they have for kids are great!

This is a fun museum for children. Adults will also find it interesting. It is not too big, but large for the size of the town. They have some cool exhibits. Not a lot of interactive stuff though, but it is worth your time, especially for the price (free + donation if you want).

We live in Kansas City and drove here to visit a certain store - thought we would check out the museum with my mom (senior) and daughter (11). There were 4 levels to this I believe - so many fun and interactive parts. We all 3 enjoyed it - there might not be enough for the younger set - but... More

Take your kids here. They will enjoy the history on display and all of the interactive venues. My daughter and I spent several hours exploring the museum and did not see it all. It is a great "inclement" weather venue.

For a college museum, this has a lot to offer. It makes for a nice field trip for either school or if you're looking for something to do on a weekend with the kids (I would recommend going during the summer when classes are not in session).

I thoroughly enjoyed a morning at the KU Natural History Museum in Lawrence, KS. The museum, on the KU Campus is four stories of exhibits. Visitors enter on the fourth floor where they can review a panorama of various wildlife found in natural habitats of the world ... rainforest, desert, Arctic, etc. Head down to the third floor (my favorite)...
