Downtown Lawrence (Mass Street) is filled with unique little shops and restaurants and is very much a picturesque "Hometown America" that you would picture in the midwest. Home of Kansas University, you'll find many college-related types of shops as well as plenty of mom and pop specialty stores. Parking is on the street with meters. Sometimes it is hard to... More

Living in Lawrence for years, Mass Street is the definite spot to people watch and take a stroll on a nice day. My husband and I take out six year old out for a walk on Mass quite frequently. Mass street is full of fun for all ages during the day. Restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, book stores, ice cream parlors,... More

College town area but family friendly with a variety of eating and shopping experiences. Can get very crowded on game weekends.

Lawrence Downtown is alive and well. There are stores, restaurants and other business the length of downtown Lawrence. College students keep the street busy. Liberty Hall offers movies and other events. Restaurants include pizza, BBQ, sandwiches, bar food and many ethnic choices. Many of the shops are hometown owned. It is quite a street.

Walking down Massachusetts street gives you the experience of a small town with a university feel. It has shops to appeal to anyone, from ladies wear to antiques, toys to KU attire. It also has many restaurants and coffee/dessert places to choose from. You can sit for a nice romantic meal in a fine restaurant, or enjoy a mid-scale sit... More

I only have one wish: that there were ashtrays around so that people wouldn't have to drop their cigarettes on the ground.

A nice 6 block long area containing many and a variety of restaurants. Many have outdoor seating due to an indoor smoking ban in Lawrence. There are ice cream shops, clothing stores, toy stores...something for everyone. Many people stroll along with their leashed pets. Many activities happen in the spring and summer on Mass street or the joining side streets.... More

Mass Street is the best! This is the most lovingly maintained small city downtowns I have ever been to in my life. It has charm out the wazoo, and a stroll on a sunny day is a lovely way to spend a day. Movies, concerts, live music, GREAT food, brewery, vintage shops, antique stores, coffee shops, bars, boutiques, shoe stores,... More

There were so many shops to visit. We could have spent all day here. Museums, antique stores, cafes, you name it and it is here.
