Went here yesterday with a friend of mine. It was great! The last time I was here was in 2008 and I had a great time then. This visit was amazing! It was informative and very interesting. Definitely worth going with family and friends.

We visited this salt mine with our family. While we all learnt a few things about mining, the use of salt mined at this place (it's not edible), and little history about this place, our kids had fun in the train ride and free salt rocks at the end of the ride. Both the regular train ride and the dark... More

I had not a clue... I am not a visitor of things like museums, and many times I have been let down by tours, but this????.... FANTASTIC!!! We spent 4 hours here. Make sure and go on the train and the tram. 200 miles of salt tunnels, plus the information, plus looking through a pile of salt for the rock... More

My husband and I travel extensively, and I must say this is one of the neatest things we've ever done. It was extremely cool, both literally and figuratively. It was amazing to realize how enormous this mine is, and all that lies under our feet as we go about our daily lives. Every employee we encountered was extremely pleasant, informative,... More

Amazing operation and well designed museum. Definitely worth the cost to take advantage of the three different activities.

Well organized tour. Informative and friendly guides. Had no idea what salt mine looked like and was surprised how large the rooms were.

Thanks for visiting, Carol! People are often surprised at how open it is underground. The great room, where you first get off the hoist, is 300 feet long. The smallest rooms are 40 by 40, so there's plenty of space 650 feet underground. We are so glad you had a good time! Thanks for coming and for taking time to... More

We went here with friends and had a great time. Once you purchase your ticket in no time you are deep down in the salt mine. The history alone is worth the price but, the massiveness of the tunnels will take your breath away. There is a small scale train that will take you deep into some of the old... More

This tour was recommended to us by a Kansan colleague. To be honest, I would not have chosen this attraction because it was about an hour away from our hotel in Wichita, and I thought being 750 ft. Underground might make me claustrophobic. But Hubby wanted to go, and I'm glad we did. We booked the 1 o'clock tour on... More

Kim, Thanks for taking time to visit. We're so glad you and your husband had a good time! Sometimes people think it will feel claustrophobic 650 feet underground because they don't expect the rooms to be so spacious and open. Fortunately, the 40 by 40 (or larger) rooms give people plenty of space. Thanks for visiting! More

As I was traveling across Kansas on I-70, I checked out several places that I might want to stop at during my trip. This was about a hour south from Salina. It was worth the detour off my route. I didn't know what to expect or even knew anything about salt mining. The cost for me to eneter was $19.... More

Thank you so much for making a detour to come see Strataca! We're so glad you enjoyed yourself! Our bathrooms underground are an engineering marvel so, we confess, we love it when people notice them. You've made our day with your nice comments. We hope you get to visit again soon! More
