An experience you need to feel! It's a little "weird" in the elevator, but a great experience once you get all the way underground! Don't miss this once in a life time experience, unless you visit Hutchinson a lot. More

We went to the Salt Museum as part of a combo package with the Cosmosphere and Space Center. The salt museum was more interesting than I expected. You take an elevator deep underground, with about a dozen other people on the elevator with you. It is pitch black on the elevator. The first part of the salt museum explains the... More

You go underground, into a saltmine, and see what they store there. Sounds kinda so-so, but it's worth it. This is where all of the old films and Hollywood memorabilia go to die (be frozen in time). You'll get some impressive salt crystals (yawn I know), But be amazed at how big it is and how much stuff is stored... More

The only downside to going down in the mine is that you need to shut down your cell phone. Being 600+ feet down thru rock will prevent phones from getting a signal. Other than that wear at least a flannel shirt or light jacket as it is like 50 or so. The tour is pretty cool, especially the Hollywood movie... More

I didnt know what to expect. Very educational, and the train and tram rides into the quary give you a real understanding of the labor involved in working in a mine. All of the staff is courteous, so typical of Kansas. The collection of Hollywood memorabilia was unexpected and fun for the kids to see. More

An excellent tour and very informative. Tours leave every 20 minutes and advance reservations are recommended. More
