This review is specifically for Valley Junction's summertime Farmer's Market on Thursdays 4-8pm: It's great! There is live music and drinking, which is at the end of the street and around the corner (so if you aren't into that, it's not in way of your market experience.) They have multiple organic garden, pure oils and soaps, pasture fed meat, authentic... More

Had a great time wandering the streets of Valley Junction. Lots of Antiques and Boutiques. Good Restaurants and Coffee Shops. The Visitors Center was very friendly and Welcoming. Very clean and the Farmers Market is a treat.

I was here 16Feb2015. It's a very nice area of West Des Moines. Unfortunately, it was also extremely cold that day, which prevented me from staying for long. I've been to the summer farmers market here before and it was wonderful. Better to come here in the warmer months.

This is an area of West Des Moines that kind of resembles a small town’s downtown area, which it probably was before it got eaten by the metro area. It’s got a Midwest charm and is filled with shops, restaurants, and art galleries and is a fun place to explore. A particular favorite here is the Des Moines Theatrical Shop.... More

Valley Junction is a great area in the Metro. Small locally owned shops and restarants along with weekend events and a first rate farmers market make it an excellent place to visit

Valley Junction is one cool place. Fun restaurants, Funky shops, unique retailers. Cool artists and art dealers. We really like Hinge, The Theatrical Shop and Wicker and the Works.

There is a mixture of private stores and bars. There is one upscale artisan store. We were able to find some things for people on our Christmas list.

Valley Junction is a fun stop with all the quaint little shops including antiques, clothing, specialty shops as well as a bead shop, a fabulous art gallery and many others. It was a very hot day so we didn't wander around as much if it had it been cooler but it is a place to go back to and explore.

okay for taking the women of the family for about 2-3 hours, then burn out. antique stores are average, boutiques are expensive, parking is a trick, and not much for kids at all - just one candy store. they do have a mean Thursday night farmer's market that i like to attend because of the entertainment and food vendors.
