This is a must see for all Willson fans. The docent tour was well-organized and to the point with interesting tidbits about Willsons life and career. A small gift shop has interesting items for sale.

If you're a fan of the movie (and who isn't??) this is a must-see museum when you're in the area. You'll want to march through this replica of the set of River City - and you'll be treated to a history of musical instruments and learn about the man who composed the score that was awarded the very first Grammy!!... Two years after our first visit, we went back to Music Man Square on a recent Saturday afternoon just to enjoy the old-fashioned ice cream shop on River City's re-created Main Street. The reason for this updated review: my wife pronounced the strawberry ice cream the very best she's ever had--and that compliment covers more than a half-century of good... More

On the face of it, the MMS seems like an anachronism, something only the 50+ year olds will appreciate. This might still be true, but in conjunction with the Meredith Wilson house tour, the MMS offers another glimpse into "small town" USA and the role it plays in the larger national consciousness. Almost no one was there except for a... More

We visited on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 1:00 pm. There are no signs or directions for parking. We circled a couple of times and finally parked to the south of the building in a small parking lot next to a restaurant cleaning and supply shop. We entered the front of the building on Pennsylvania Avenue, i.e. the west entrance.... More

With Mason City having Meredith Wilson as one of their favorite sons, they were so smart to have created this entertaining Music Man Square. This Iowa city was the inspiration for Wilson as he wrote his famous musical. Music Man was the first show I ever saw on Broadway while growing up in New York. This square with all the... More

We visited on our recent trip to Mason City. We enjoyed it very much, including the Music Man Square, the music museum and Willson's boyhood home. The docents who conducted our tours were very knowledgeable and fun to talk to.

My husband and I were in Mason City to stay at the Historic Park Inn and visited here while we were there. If you're a fan of the Music Man, this is a must see. The streetscape and museum are fun to see, but what makes this experience are the people that work there. Our tour guides were very knowledgeable,... More
