I was looking for something fun to do this past summer when I had a Friday off. I read about this bookstore and it had many good reviews. Those reviews turned out to be right. Though located right downtown (great location) it was very quiet and soothing inside. There were so many different sections of this bookstore, something for everyone.... More

We were visiting town and stopped in to check out this bookstore. There are multiple levels which include a cafe' and a local Iowa author section. A comfortable place with helpful but not pushy staff. They offered to order the book I was looking for, but since we were not in town for that long, I turned them down. GREAT!!

I enjoyed browsing the stacks here with my family recently. Store offers a great selection, good prices and plenty of staff to help you.

Prairie Lights is simply sunning both in terms of its range and the calibre of its staff, who are both polite and knowledgable, while also willing to let you browse if that's your thing. The cafe staff upstairs are particularly friendly, and if there's a better place to read, write, or talk books in Iowa, I have yet to find... More

Prairie Lights is heaven on earth for book lovers. Their selection of fiction and non-fiction make for endless browsing/purchasing - I am a book lover and read a lot of reviews, and I hadn't heard of many of the books they have. There are shelves featuring award-winning books, and a section for Iowa writers. (With the nationally-known University of Iowa's... More

I've gone to Prarie Lights several time and they are really exceptional. Their employees are helpful and VERY knowledgable, their book selection is impressive considering their size, and the readings they hold in the store are very well put on. They also have a small cafe that is very pleasent. Their children's book selection is also worth mentioning, and it... More
