I live in Iowa City, and appreciate the opportunities the university gives for cultural and intellectual stimulation. The campus isn't much; when I was a student here, over 50 years ago, there was a fair amount of green space, which has now been covered with buildings as enrollment has grown. The Pentacrest is about the only photogenic spot left, with... More

The University of Iowa in Iowa City is built around the former capital of the state. The Old Capital Building is in the center of campus and is still open to the public. The campus is split by the Iowa River with the bulk of campus on the east side of the river. The west side is predominantly graduate education... More

Easy to get around, safe and don't believe all the hype about it being a party school as the quality of academics is top notch here.

The campus is beautiful. The atmosphere is energetic. The people are friendly. Love how the campus is right next to pedestrian friendly Iowa City.

Definitely not a town=gown lay out. just integrated buildings within the town aside from the pentacrest. Student Union is pretty plain.

Having traveled to many college campuses around the country, including the four major Universities in the state of Iowa, the University of Iowa is the least appealing. Spread out and interspersed among the city of Iowa City, there is no grand or even definitive sign that states you have entered the campus, just a few directional signs for the UIHC... More

Visited the University of Iowa in June while taking a weeklong workshop at the Iowa Summer Writing Festival. Had a wonderful experience and can highly recommend the University, as well as Iowa City.

First, this is a completely biased review. I have lived in Iowa City for >25 years and love it here. The University is the heart of this town and Fall is the best time to see both it and Iowa City. A Fall weekend with a football game is a quintessential Midwestern experience. Have a drink and dinner downtown on... More
