Visiting the University of Iowa is somewhat unusual because the campus is spread along both sides of the Iowa River, and is adjoined at the hip with the downtown. The pedestrian mall and entertainment during the summer makes Iowa City feel intimate and cozy and just plain fun. During the school year, the town and campus have an energy and... More

campus is spread all over town, average to poor architecture. No ivy covered walls here. As chapter advisor to my old fraternity I was aghast to learn that no one flunks out ever. When I attended the attrition rate for freshman was 50%. Show up, pay the tuition, you are golden and a potential "honor" grad. So much for the... More

A beautiful campus with an even richer history. A must see is Iowa's first Capitol building. You will find great Midwestern people here but our population is very diverse and welcoming to all. The University Hospital is amazing with their up to date technology. The new Children's Hospital will bring comfort and healing to many.

Love going to visit my daughter at this university. Not only do I feel completely safe knowing that she is there, it is also a very fun place to be. She has to work very hard because the university sets such high standards but that is exactly what a parent Wants when we send our children away to a big... More

I had some time to kill in Iowa City while I waited for an evening flight back home. I went up to the campus and found two nice - and free - museums. I enjoyed wandering through the Museum of Natural History and the Old Capitol Museum. The little part of campus that I saw was very clean and nice.

The UI is one of the smaller "Big Ten" universities, which means its campus is not as sprawling as many. It abuts downtown Iowa City which makes for a seamless transition. The Pentacrest is the central university focus with the Old State Capitol in the middle of the five-building area. It has all the usual athletic attractions and a few... More
