This is a relaxing place for family walks and hikes with your dogs. You can hike farther in the woods, stay on groomed trails or relax on the waterfront. In the Spring, if you are lucky, you can find morels. Summer around the 4th of July is a wonderful time to pick some blackberries. We enjoy fishing in the creek.... More

Out of all the outdoorsy things to do in Dubuque this is by far my favorite.. JUST BEAUTIFUL. My kids and I love to walk the trails and see the amazing views. The cliffs are breath taking. This really is the place to visit.

Drove through and it's a nice, quiet area. Great place to see views overlooking the river. Good place to take some photos.

My husband and I took a lovely hike one morning. There was one map at the beginning of the trail, but along the way there were none. Every time we came to a fork in the path, we had to guess which way to go and we obviously did not always guess correctly. Thankfully we came out to A parking... More

Great spot. There is a number of 2 miles hikes that are fairly easy. Bunch of kids ranging 6-12 accomplished 3 trails. The actual mine is towards the entrance near the visitor building.

If you are in Dubuque a simple drive thru or a hike at this park is well worth your time. There is access to the Mississippi river and awesome hiking trails in the open pit mine around horseshoe bluff.

I stopped in at Mines of Spain to check out the area on the way in to Dubuque. Wow, great views of the Mississippi River and wonderful hiking. As a recreational hiker, ie not that serious but do gear up to hike parks in the Midwest, I was really on a scouting trip for the area. By that, I mean... More

Multiple trails to choose from with a variety of scenery from bluffs to plains. Well-marked trails, good parking, and clean trails.

The wife and I decided to go to the Mines of Spain for a picnic and some hiking. There are lots of great places to go eat but we went up by the burial site. There was a great view of the river. From there we went to the nature center and looked at the exhibits. There are not a... More
