The girls loved the trip on a paddle boat, we opted for the buffet lunch. There were only 10 people having it in total. Food was average and edible. Commentary was ok, interesting about history and other boats. Saw a bald eagle nest and this was the limit if the wildlife section! For the fun of a trip on the... More

It was a nice and relaxing ride on Spirit of Dubuque Paddle Boat on the Mississippi River. I enjoyed the nice views and really liked the idea of being on a replica of a century-old Mississippi River steamboat. If you like boats, being on the water a little taste of replicated river history it is a neat thing to experience.

We were looking for a nice ride on the River while in Galena so we drove over to Dubuque and what a disappointment this was. We went for a 2 hour cruise during the day and it cost $33 each person for a very poorly narrated unenthused cruise that spoke about barges and some of the buildings along the river... More

We took the 3pm tour that lasted about an hour & a half. It was a relaxing ride with great views of the Mississippi River. Snacks & drinks are available for purchase. The narration during the tour was monotone & scripted but informative nonetheless. A nice afternoon activity for all ages.

We took the river ride this past week and although the overall ride was quite relaxing and enjoyable we expected more. Firstly, upon arrival at the boat we were told that we needed a ticket for my 16 month old baby- which we were told at the office when we bought our tickets wasn't necessary. So while my husband went... More

We took a paddle boat lunch tour along the Mississippi River and enjoyed every minute. I would definitely consider doing this and you are not far from Galena.

I went on the Spirit of Dubuque 1.5 hour excursion. The description was billed as an eco and historic narrated tour. I would say the first 30 minutes of the narration was more than you ever want to know about barges and tonnage and horsepower. Where was the "eco and historic" narration? There was a bit of historic narration during... More

We took a sunny afternoon trip in mid-September on the Spirit of Dubuque. It was great. Lovely scenery, Julian Dubuque's grave, many homes and other attractions all pointed out by the boat captain. you go under bridges, pass by barges, large and small, get a friendly wave from barge captains, etc. It was a great outing and I would do... The Spririt of Dubuque offers a convenient and affordable way to 'get your feet wet' on the Mississippi. The 2-hour cruise explores the waters where Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin come together; the impressive bridges and scenery along the shoreline and the presence of other boats will truly delight photographers. It's a fine introduction to the area. But the boat itself... More

This was a great ride down the Mississippi in the evening. We opted for the dinner cruise which was in retrospect a mistake. The food was meh at best. My suggestion would be to go on one of the non-meal cruises. The captain was friendly and informative.
