A fun bar to go to, but not my choice for regular hang out. The decor is very Irish pub, which is cool, and the bands are usually quite good. However, it tends to be one of the busier (hence louder) and pricier bars in Dubuque. If you want to hear a good band and visit a a displaced Irish... more
My three visits to The Busted Lift last weekend made me wish I still lived in northern Iowa. I have already put the Oct. 13th Irish festival at Murphy's Park (sponsored by The Busted Lift) on my calendar. more
When I was growing up in Dubuque, the drinking nightlife didn't seem so appealing. From my perspective most people drank at home. When you enter "The Busted Lift" from the upstairs..it is impossible to imagine that just a staircase away....a wonderful/magical experince is waiting for you....the history is fascinating....one just falls in love with the place. The "Feather Room" is a story all in it self....The whole "PUB" offers paintings, faces in stone, handcarved doors...and secrets for you to uncover.When visiting ...one... more
