We saw the many varieties of flowers, and walked around in the quiet surroundings. It was a beautiful place and worth seeing.

If you want to take a leisurely stroll or just find a spot or two to sit and enjoy the surroundings amongst a very nice (and free) garden and park in the Midwest, then please visit Marshal Park and Dubuque Arboretum. Located on what used to the be the outskirts of Dubuque, the park is large enough to not feel... More

The large variety of plants and flowers within the gardens is impressive! It is well cared for, and you can tell the people who upkeep the grounds are proud of this place. It's a perfect place if you are looking to have special pictures taken (senior, wedding, engagement, family). It can be a peaceful place to read and relax.

The ladies in the center (volunteers) were extremely helpful and delightful to talk with. Lots of trails to walk and enjoy the japanese gardens with koi pond, herb garden and rose gardens. Started with local man donating 51 acres and 8 volunters back in 1980's. Numerous volunteers help to maintain the gardens.

Well maintained gardens. Went early Sunday and had the place to ourselves. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the view. There was a playground and bathrooms by the gardens. Free admission made it even better. Tons of parking.

Very beautiful outdoor area and it is free. Be prepared to walk if you want to see the best parts like the waterfall and bridges. Pack a lunch and eat in one of the park picnic areas. Beautiful spot for outdoor wedding!

This is a gem on the northwest side of the city. As you drive in you pass the veteran memorial and wend your way through part of the [extensive] Pine/fir tree gardens, the Japanese garden and pond, the band shell and finally come to the main office and parking lot. You can wander and let the gardens unfold, or go... More

You can easily spend a day here. A local favorite for weddings as well. There are a variety of garden styles including a a coy pond. Rolling hills, tons of flowers and trails and they often host things like car shows and live music. A great spot in the Dubuque area.

This is a magical place where volunteers have carried out a vision of beauty, ecology and music. There are regular concerts here during the warm season that range from the Dubuque Symphony to jazz to blues to blue grass. Make sure you look for the incredible hosta garden and the Japanese fountain.

We visited during a very hot afternoon in early September and there were very few folks wandering around, giving us almost exclusive -if unguided- access to the beautiful gardens and paths and ponds. I am not a gardener at all, just a fan and, at arboretums and gardens, a gawker. Had it been slightly cooler, we would've strolled another hour.... More
