The elevator is a must do for people who are into this sort of thing. The people are nice, and it is worth visiting some of the shops around cable car square at the same time. It is a short ride, and not open year-round. It is possible to buy either one-way or roundtrip tickets. $1 each way for adults,... More

Where else can you have such a unique and fun experience for $2 round-trip? A conveyance from the last century, this 4th street funicular holds 4-6 people, or as many as eight if some are either very small or very friendly. You pile in, pull the cord to alert the operator to start you up the hill. Two cars operate... More

A short walk from my hotel, I had to check this out, especially being from Pittsburgh, where we have similar albeit much larger "elevators"( though we call them "Inclines"). The real name is funicular railway, but no matter what it's called, it's worth a visit. The view from the top of Dubuque and the Mississippi is great. How they built... More

Really enjoyed this trip up the bluff. You could see the view spread out below you as you ascended. Two very nice large viewing decks at the top. You can stay and look as long as you like. Brochure with its history was very interesting. Well worth the price! I think I was a little surprised at the size of... More

My Granddaughters went with me to ride the elevator and can't wait to do it again. What a fantastic view from the top! The Mississippi is just amazing and you can see forever. More

This is very cool, for kids and adults alike. It is a solid little cable car, the ride takes only a few minutes but is thrilling. The view from the top of the city, three surrounding states and the Mississippi River is huge. More
