This is where you want to go to find smaller, independent, fun and quirky stores and restaurants. Unique items, friendly people. Fun to go with friends on a sunny day.

East Village is our #1 place to take friends and relatives visiting Des Moines. With over 100 local shops, restaurants and entertainment destinations, this downtown neighborhood perfectly demonstrates the "Des Moines: HELL YES" attitude. There are options for everyone, from trendy clothing boutiques, shoes, home decor, kitchen supplies and gadgets, antiques, pets and much more. Home to several attractions, including... More

There are some cute little shops and some restaurants. I think that the parking is not great depending on the time of day you go.

The East Village is where it's at in Des Moines. Next to Ingersoll, this is where the cool kids hang out.

I always love going to the East Village. Lots to do and see. Shopping, restaurants, etc. Try to get a map of the shops because there are some on the side streets you will miss if you don't know they are there. Don't miss The Velvet Coat for sure!

East Village is reinvented. The old part of the city has many new additions and the old ones have been redone and re-purposed. A wonderful area of town today.

If your expectations for Des Moines were anything like mine, you will be pleasantly surprised by this trendy up-and-coming part of town. Lots of great boutique stores, cool coffee shops and good restaurants. Some offices and lofts are being made new from old buildings, and the area really has a cool, young vibe.

The East Village is the older part of downtown Des Moines that is east of the river, with lots of hotels, restaruants, bars, service businesses (salons, photography, etc) and eclectic shops. Lots to see and do on a fall day when the sun is shining and the cool fall breezes. Give yourself plenty of time to wander around and explore,... More
