We visited the zoo this past weekend and had an enjoyable time. It isn't the largest zoo I have ever been to but the displays are well laid out and overall the zoo is well planned. It was easily walkable and I don't feel like there was something I missed. We were able to have some up close animals and... More

Yes it is a small zoo but I had a great time walking around and seeing the animals. This zoo has more than one animal in most exhibits overall. That was unique and I liked seeing it. Zoo appears to be newly renovated with more being planned. I loved walking into the Australian exhibit with a kangaroo and wallabys roaming... More

We were in Des Moines for a week & my kids love the zoo, so we went. We got 1/2 off admission since we are members of the Detroit Zoo. So it ended up being $3/each for my kids & $5 for me. When we got there we had planned to eat lunch later after we had seen a few... More

I though I had been to small zoos before (Peoria, IL zoo, Niabi Zoo in Moline, IL) but this is the smallest. On the plus side, I think both my 1 year old and 3 year old could get around the whole thing without a stroller. I took my stroller the first time and it ended up being a pain... More

My 3 year-old daughter already wants to go back, my parents joined us and were very impressed. They haven't been to the zoo in decades. Pack a picnic lunch if you want to save money; there are lots of picnic tables and even a playground outside the entrance. Zoo members always get in free and get a lot of discounts... More

We typically go to this zoo every summer and in the fall for trick-or-treating due to our close proximity and my daughter's age. The sea lions are never out when we go, the koi and goats are fun to feed, but typically swarming with kids. The giraffes are my daughter's favorite and last time they weren't out. The zoo is... What a fun place to spend a little time! We were there for a few hours with an 8 year old who loved it. We visited on a Friday and parking was no problem. They recognized our membership to an out of state zoo and gave us free admission. It's just the right size for 2-4 hours. Our little one... More

We were happy and impressed with our trip to Blank Park Zoo. It's a small zoo that doesn't house as many animals as a larger city zoo, but it makes up for it by providing unique experiences. For example, the wallaby joeys were out when we were there, and they weren't separated from visitors. The penguins were fed while we... More

For a small zoo Blank Park is very impressive. The variety of animals and the high quality of their enclosures were better than I expected. I attended on a nice sunny Sunday and spent 3 or 4 hours taking pictures and enjoying the animals. Well worth the eleven dollar entry fee.

This zoo is smaller than many large cities but makes up for it in displays. If you have young children they will enjoy it. Feeding the giraffes should be on your things to do list for them. Parking may get a little hard on the weekends but it is well worth a few hours visit.
