This is my favorite pub in Des Moines. Excellent food, great beer selection and a huge Scotch menu. A great place to go for lunch or after work.

We found the Mile High pub a good Experience. I tried the ola dubh a strong full flavor dark ale I enjoyed with the fish and chips my husband had the meat pie which was also a good choice. The staff was friendly and the meal was served quickly . I will revisit this pub the next time I'm in... More

I've eaten at the Royal Mile 3 times usually when passing through Des Moines to get to Minneapolis. It's always a fun place to stop for a great English meal and English beer. Last time I had the roast beef dinner and the meat was so tender and juicy. We ate upstairs at the Red Monk because it was very... More

Loved this little English pub. Great selection of British beers on tap. Bartender was very courteous and prompt. This seems to be a big college hangout. Glad to see the college students are drinking good beer. Wish I had time to visit the Belgian beer bar upstairs. Looked like they had some wonderful Belgians on tap as well.

My favorite place to drink in Des Moines. Go upstairs to the Red Monk for great Belgian beer.

Best pub this side of the Atlantic. A couple of pints of London Pride were delicious as was the steak and Guinness pie. Others dined and drank outside. Big selection of beer including many Belgian brews. Next time I will try their chicken and leek pasty. My only complaint is that they are too far from home.

Friends and I used to go to the Royal Mile regulary but stopped going when we could no longer handle the smoke which drfited up to the dining area from the bar. The owners were unable or unwilling to deal with it so we quit going. We plan to go back when the smoking ban becomes law so we can... More

I visited the Royal Mile one evening and one lunchtime while I was staying in Des Moines. As an Englishman I was dubious as to whether there would be a real English pub feel about it, but I was very pleasntly surprised to find that it was right on the mark. All that was missing was a fruit machine (... More

If you looking for some great fish and chips, this is the Pub to go to. Not to mention I love their StrongBow cider. It is a great place to catch up with some friends over drinks, but casual attire required.
