This is one of the top ten farmer's markets in the USA. IT IS HUGE. It can be overly crowded. But, the vendors are good people and they do a great job. You can take home delicious homegrown organic foods and delicious bakery stuff that is just like mom made. This is the best people watching anywhere.

This was a blast! Such a great variety! I had to get some maytag blue cheese!! It was funny buying cheese in Iowa since i live in the dairy state! But maytag is one of my favorites and it's cheaper than I can get at the store here! So bought me a whole wheel of it! Breakfast burritos seem to... More

Might be # 2 in the nation but will always be #1 to us. We've loved the market for years! When we moved away we really missed the market but got to enjoy the Miami food truck scene instead. When we moved back someone told us we should apply to have a gluten free booth & this year will be... More

Have to go earlier to beat the crowds and heat. It's simply too popular to go after 10:00am or even sometimes after 09:00. Number two ranked farmer's market in the nation in several city square blocks is too much. With that said, it's great to go for food ready-to-eat, for food to take home (veggies, meats, cheeses and such), and... More

I enjoyed this farmer's market so much! On each street there is a different type of entertainment. Wonderful atmosphere, friendly people. Lots of things to see/shop for!

This is probably the coolest farmers market ever! It is very large, covering a few square blocks of downtown Des Moines. There is so much to see, from prepared food to groceries to live entertainment. Wait, I forgot about the fresh cut flowers and home made clothes and soaps! Oh yeah, there are crafts and décor too! Absolutely fabulous. Only... More

I typically buy my groceries at the store and was less than thrilled about going to the Farmers' Market. I was WRONG! It is amazing. There truly is something for everyone---ready-to-eat foods, ingredients (i.e. honey, fruit, veggies), flowers, crafts, decor, clothes, live music, etc, etc. The crafts/decor aren't hokey. There are some unusual foods you won't see at the grocery... More

I've been to some fabulous farmers' markets. I truthfully didn't think this one would even come close to the one at the Capitol in Madison, WI. But I was wrong! I dare say it was a little bit better!? There were so many booths and so many great things to choose from. It was crowded, but not too terrible to... More

Recently the Dsm Farmers Market was rated #2 Farmers Market behind Pike Place Market in Seattle. I prefer the Dsm Farmers Market by far!! The Dsm Farmers Market is about 12 city blocks transformed on Saturday Morning into a wide variety and selection of vendors. All sorts for prepared ethnic foods (yes even in Iowa), fresh vegetables and fruits from... More
