I biked to the farmers market this past weekend. This is my first visit for this year, it is great to have free secure bike parking out of the rain. The market was bigger the ever and was very crowed (but that is a good thing). This definitely worth the visit and a great bike ride destination.

This is a large street market with musical entertainment, plenty of ready-to-eat food, crafts, and of course farm produce. I sometimes get claustrophobic in crowds but managed just fine. Tip: bring a bottle of water and wear sunscreen.

This was my first time going to the Farmer's Market in Des Moines. It had something for everyone. Most vendors had free samples to try various goodies. Prices for items ranged from reasonable to high, depending on the product. Lots of music entertainment there, too. It was also fun to see all of the dogs people were walking, and one... More

I think this farmer's market is what's great about Des Moines. Decent size; large enough to spend an hour or two browsing, but not too overwhelming where you feel like you end up missing out because you just can't make it through the whole thing. Lots of vendors and great food and coffee stands. Make sure to get there early,... More

The Des Moines farmer's market was one of the highlights to our recent trip. We stayed at a hotel downtown, ran around the river and finished up at the farmer's market. The area is very walkable! The market itself was several city blocks. Many coffees, drinks, breakfast and lunch items to purchase. In addition, there was live music and many... More

We go almost every Saturday during the summer and twice during the holiday season! there are so many vendors it's very hard to see them all, it's a parade of dogs and strollers! The food vendors are a must, between the egg rolls and bratwurst you can't go wrong! Their are some great pies to be had and you can... More

I like wandering around farmers markets. This is the best I've visited. I lived in D.C. for seven years and the Des Moines farmers market beats the permanent Easter Market farmers market. I wasn't surprised to find delicious vegetables in Iowa, but I was surprised to find so many great breads, beautfiul flowers, delicious pastries and neat crafts! So many... More

A visit here is a great way to spend some time casually connoitering about in the core of beautiful downtown Des Moines. Held every Saturday morning, May to October, this event brings in a lot of vendors. You can peruse fresh produce, baked & canned goods, craft brews, a smattering of art, handicrafts and other various and sundry goods for... More

The atmosphere was great, a number of tents selling items from pictures, coffee, paintings, to pottery, etc. It was a great place to just walk around for an hour. Went to a bar called Legends for brnch, where they had a Bloody Mary bar, along with live music (one of the many areas to find live music). The best part... More
