What an awesome art museum. Art from Picasso, Warhol, Monet, and the list goes on. Definitely the Midwest's best kept secret. The architectute of the building is pretty phenomenal as well. Milton L Bunce Jr.- (Protection Services) was very helpful in describing the artwork and artist. The employees there really know what they are talking about here. I can't wait... More

My now wife while visiting from Romania was astonished to see a metal sculpture from a famous Romanian who have lived in Paris. They have several other name brand artists. An exemplary modern wing, but I'm a fan of the classics. Gorgeous grounds including outdoor sculptures.

I really enjoyed my time at the art museum. The artwork is spread out into three different buildings and you can follow the flow through the buildings very well. They had lots of unique pieces and a surprising number of pieces by well known artists. Great display for a smaller U.S. City!

Great modern art collection with regular special exhibits. Our grandson attends art classes for pre-schoolers. Easy parking.

My companions greatly enjoyed their visit to this museum. I prefer landscapes, portraits and artwork that I don't have to figure out what the artist is trying to portray... so this was not my kind of art museum.

I love everything about the Des Moines Art Center. First of all, the building is a work of art itself, designed by three world-renowned architects. Read more about that here: http://www.desmoinesartcenter.org/about/architecture.aspx It is set in Greenwood Park, which is another noteworthy destination. The art works are very impressive for a city the size of Des Moines, and include paintings by... More

I enjoy how the Des Moines Art Center makes art available to ALL comers with its free entry policy. The have wonderful exhibition openings that allow you to share the local enthusiasm for the arts. The featured exhibit was about Andy Warhol and Halston. Very interesting exhibit. I liked the Andy Warhol artwork the best. The rest of the museum also had many powerful pieces.

The building and its annexes have very interesting architecture, I thought it was worth visiting for that reason alone. The permanent collection is somewhat diverse, not focused too much on a particular era although there is quite a bit of modern art. On our visit the special exhibition was a combination of Andy Warhol art and Halston fashion (the two... More
