It's getting really rough was its a great place to ride off the main roads.

The river trail connects Gray's Lake to downtown Des Moines. It is fairly flat with a few tiny uphill parts, and it has a fair amount of shade. There are a few drinking fountains along the way. At Gray's Lake there's restrooms and parking lots. It goes right by Mullet's restaurant so you can duck in for a quick pint.
