Gray's Lake is very pretty and a 2 mile walk around the lake on a paved path. There are usually a lot of people of all ages at all times. I did not see any park staff/security so it does not feel safe to go at night, would never go alone as a female. There are nice restrooms, drinking fountain,... More

Gray's Lake is a family place ... or for the individual. If you want exercise, walk the trail around the lake. It's a 2.2 mile course that is low impact (no hills to speak of). The scenery is beautiful ... with even eagles to view as they nest on the north side. There is a beach area for those who... More

Gray's lake has been on of my favorite places to exercise for years. The 2.2 mile trail that includes a walk across a bridge spanning part of the lake is a delightful way to keep fit. You can also bike on the trail, or while at the lake you can rent canoes, paddle boats, rowboats, windsurfers, sailboats or take your... More

Excellent hiking path, paved, and has a long bridge that makes the view of the park. There is boat rentals, a small beach and lots of family relaxation.

The lake is indeed beautiful! There is a large swimming beach; however, it was closed due to harmful algae when we were there, so I can't say anything about the state of the lake bottom. There's a big park for children, appropriate for ages 2 and up. There is also a paved walking path around the lake.

Gray's Lake is a great outdoor venue near downtown Des Moines. Linked to bike trails throughout down town and the Des Moines metro.

This place is great if you just want to get out of the city while you're still in the city. It is the perfect place to go for a morning run or a lunchtime walk.

Beautiful, well-maintained city park. Wonderful taste of nature in the heart of the city! Lovely grassy areas with lots of picnic tables and several benches along the 2-mile trail. Water craft rentals are wel used on warm days. Great get-away!

My 46-year old friend died of a heart attack while biking because none of the city employees wanted to perform CPR. Due to foam coming from his mouth. CPR does not require breaths anymore. Someone also helped themselves to the thousand dollars in his wallet while he lay on the ground. They should have a defibrillator at the boat rental... More
