Great for a work out or family day out. My sons and I came down and walked around before dropping my son at college. Beautiful Lake.

I absolutely love Gray's Lake! I have always felt very safe to go there and do runs around the lake! It's nice that they have a water fountain and bathrooms available.

The park is beautiful and has a lovely bridge that gets lit up at night. It is a wonderful sight and is a nice walk on a brisk autumn day. Bring a picnic basket and stay for a few hours! Maybe you will witness a wedding!

Gray's Lake is a lake for all people. It has a two mile running, walking, biking trail around it with links to all of the local biking and running trails from downtown and Waterworks Park. If you want to run or walk, you can turn into the parking lot across from the Arboretum entrance and park by the close-by bathrooms... More

Great place to go for a run/walk/rollerblade. The trail around the lake is exactly two miles long, so it's easy to work out how far you've run. You can rent out bikes or kayaks etc at one end of the lake or pop in at Confluence micro-brewery for a quick beer. There are areas to have a grill/picnic with the... More

We went to Gray's Lake Park especially to view the flags in memory of those from the 9/11 terrorist attack. Such a simple thing - rows and rows of flags, blowing in the warm September breeze - was so very touching. We saw life move forward as toddlers waddled through the flags, sometimes reaching down to touch them and look... More

You can walk, run, bike, etc. around the lake, it's a 1.5-2ish miles. there's boating options to rent, paddling boarding, kayaking, canoeing, water bikes and sailboats, swimming area and picnic spots. open field areas and playground all near the waters edge. It's beautiful! It also has access to great bike paths that will take you downtown, and any direction in... More

I always love to go for a run around Gray's Lake or even rent a paddle boat with my boyfriend and paddle around the lake and enjoy the day. I even love to go at dusk and watch the water and enjoy the bridge being lit up and the view of Downtown Des Moines. I just don't think it's good... More

Quiet, nicely maintained area. Great for walking around the lake or on the many connecting paths that go downtown or to Water Works park. Tends to be crowded on hot summer days.
