The city of Des Moines has done a very good job of making this park classy. There are so many fun activities to do in and around the lake. Besides fun water activities you can take a very pleasant walk or ride around the lake. Beautiful bridge. Fabulous park for early mornings or late nights.

We walked to Greys lake park from downtown Des Moines along the Des Moines river along past the fast flowing water dams, photo time, which were nice to see, then cross over the river and head up the other river called the Racoon river up a well paved walkway ond cycle track for about two miles to Grey' Lake park.... Gray's Lake is great for a respite from downtown Des Moines. It's so close, yet an oasis. It has many paved trails, including around the lake, and is big enough for biking or distance running. Even better, it has a large bathroom and water sports rental facility, so you "go" and then get ice cream ... and then get a... More

We are very lucky to have a park with lake so close to the city. They have a 2 mile paved path around the lake for walking, running, etc. I've taken my dogs several times and it is such a nice area for all to enjoy. The last time I went they were doing an outdoor yoga class. They have... More

Gray's Lake is very pretty and a 2 mile walk around the lake on a paved path. There are usually a lot of people of all ages at all times. I did not see any park staff/security so it does not feel safe to go at night, would never go alone as a female. There are nice restrooms, drinking fountain,... More

Gray's Lake is a family place ... or for the individual. If you want exercise, walk the trail around the lake. It's a 2.2 mile course that is low impact (no hills to speak of). The scenery is beautiful ... with even eagles to view as they nest on the north side. There is a beach area for those who... More

Gray's lake has been on of my favorite places to exercise for years. The 2.2 mile trail that includes a walk across a bridge spanning part of the lake is a delightful way to keep fit. You can also bike on the trail, or while at the lake you can rent canoes, paddle boats, rowboats, windsurfers, sailboats or take your... More
