This is by far one of the best science centers I have been to. I would recommend you have at least 3 hours. The cost is $11.00 for adults and children 2 to 12 and under are $7.00. You have to pay for parking and it runs $3.00 for the first hour and then $1.00 each additional hour OR if... More

This was the last stop on our weeklong vacation. It surpassed my expectations. The interactive exhibits were fun and interesting to the kids. They were learning and having fun at the same time. It was not crowded so they could take their time and tweak their projects and try different things. Another thing we really liked was the events during... More

We went here as we were visiting for a week while my husband worked in Des Moines. We came on a Monday because I saw on their website that they have story time at 10:30am. The story time was fun, as the gal read a few books on the screen & all around the rest of the wall/ceiling was scenes... More

Exhibits and activities get changed several times a year. I like that SCI meets the educational needs of toddlers. The small discoveries space is great and not very busy during the week.

It's not often you find something that is truly interesting and enjoyable for the entire span of age groups, but the Science Center of Iowa surprised us. Even my 11 yr old said "I thought it was going to be boring--reading lots of cards about stuff but it was really fun!" Many interactive displays, building rockets, playing with sounds, electricity,... More

We were looking for something to do while my husband had meetings (we came in from out if town). We arrived right as they opened, and really enjoyed very low crowds for the first hour. After that, the place filled up very quickly with a couple of school groups and several groups of large families. My boys are 7 &... More

The Science Center was fun. My daughter loved that you could forecast the weather here and have fun with a green screen. They also had an awesome Space exhibit and theater. Where we spent the most time is the room with all the stations where you could create a car with legos and race them, rocket launch, water play, and... More
