My two (almost three) year old could have stayed here all day I'm pretty sure. They have a fantastic offering of activities for anyone from probably age 2-8. Up to age 12 would... read more

My wife and I cam specifically to see the planetarium show. On arrival we were told the facility was broken and there was no repair date. I asked to see the director and was told the director doesn't work weekends (when most of the visitors show up and parents bring their children to the science center). The IMAX theatre was... More

Hours of unique fun for kids of all ages. The Imax was fun I loved the dome room. This place is a must see for parents looking to entertain children.

My two (almost three) year old could have stayed here all day I'm pretty sure. They have a fantastic offering of activities for anyone from probably age 2-8. Up to age 12 would probably have fun for an hour or so...anything beyond that, it's probably hit and miss (depending on their personality). Constructing lego cars to raise down a ramp... More

There were 2 levels of exploring, live educational talks/demonstrations. A build it/test it/STEM area for 'scientific play' that my kids loved. There was a nature area which displayed live snakes and frogs. There were some stuffed birds and animals. It is very similar to the Putnam Museum in the Quad Cities, but the upkeep is much better and there are... More

Getting in the door was a hassle. Showed pass ID . Girls were not very friendly. Kids said it was ok nothing special. Probably wouldn't go back.

This should be top 3 in your itinerary!! I went with a 3 year old, 4 year old, husband, and senor citizens and I believe that ALL of them found it enjoyable. This is a suitable location to visit for a few hours (4-5) the kids especially loved the rocket launcher.

My nephew (7) loves coming here when he is in town. Lots of hands on for an energetic mischief maker. Unfortunately the exhibits do not change & there aren't as many as one might expect based on the size of the building. It took us about 1 1/2 hours to walk through the last time he was here, and frankly... More

We went for the IMAX (saw the Lemur film), but stayed for lunch and some exploration. The film was great, with a fun and informative short on how the IMAX screen & surround sound works showing before the feature. The cafeteria was expensive, as cafeterias are; but the pizza was delicious. :-) I was impressed by the range of activities.... More

My husband and I drove 2 hours to check this place out and spend some time in Des Moines and boy was I disappointed. We went without kids and there wasn't much to see. Even if I had kids, I don't think we would have spent that much longer there. The place is pretty big, but nothing there. We probably... More

Not worth visiting, unless you have small children. Everything is broken! There are no attractions that amuses the adult or older teens. Everything is for small children. They need to learn from the pro science centers like Phoenix. Place should be renamed as Des Moines Small Children Science Center.
