I got invited by the representative of a northern county of Iowa state to sit on the major chair of the house! She took pictures for me and showed me around the library of Law. You can almost get in every room and have a conversation if they're not very busy. Nice well decorated building besides. Old building could last... More

My significant other was visiting me and decided we would wander over to the capitol building. It was way beyond our expectations. We went on a Saturday and we fortunate to catch a tour that had started so we could go into the rooms normally locked on the weekend. The library was absolutely gorgeous. If you take a tour, you... these 8 days in DC were the best--was on many bus tours and seen all the exhibits and the battle fields. Arlington and all they have to offer there--and then you must see the exhibits there for each of the wars--mine was the Korean---and all the buildings just loaded with history. to see it all and read everything it would... The citizens of the state of Iowa have a treasure to be really proud of in their state capitol! The architecture is incredible. Young and old can find something spectacular in this complex. A must see for anyone. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff make it even better.

Free tour! It was really cool to just take it all in. Very pretty architecture. My son enjoyed learning about the history of the state of Iowa. Even the grounds outside of the building have some great monuments. Would definitely go back again.

We had very limited time to see as much as possible. There is not cost and open on Saturday. The building is absolutely gorgeous! As we worked our way around, we did capture information via a tour group. I overheard the guide mention that access to the library is only granted through the guided tours. He graciously allow my party... More

We try to take in state capitol tours when we can. We had Marilyn take us on a one and a half hour tour of the capitol and she did a great job. She included wonderful stories about the capitol and its construction. The building is incredible and has recently completed an extensive renovation/preservation and we are glad to report... More

They have a free tour! The view of the city is great as well as the nearby monuments. We enjoyed learning about the history of Iowa and there was a model of the Iowa Battleship as well.

this landmark was an excellent source of info, and was only let down cos we were not able to look at the rotunda because we were not with a guided tour ( no one to interpret for me as I am deaf ) so without a tour guide we were not able to see the part we wanted to see,... More

I was so impressed with the capital. I recommend walking self tour first and then a guided tour. This was definitely one of the most interestingly wonderful things that I gave ever done. So worth the day spent in marvel and marble!
