Went for the heritage tomato tasting. Nice to try lots of varieties in one place. It's unique to Decorah so if you're in town on Labor Day, you should try it.

If you have an interest in heritage gardening or farming, you will love this place. It's also a good place just to spend some time in the country, and hey, it's free (except presumably for special events, or whatever you buy in the visitor center). A very genuine and high quality place - not simply a tourist attraction. We were... More

Stopped by and picked up some seeds today. Loved the chickens, Turkeys, and ducks. Nice fall day and had a nice walk around the place.

Interesting and informative! The staff were personable and took time to explain about Heritage seeds and square-foot container gardening.

Having heard about Seed Savers, we made the trek north of Decorah. We started at the visitor's center. The staff at the center was more interested in packing t-shirts than serving visitors and despite seeing us come in, never spoke. We looked around the visitor center, took a map and took off to walk around. The walk-about is worth the... More

Seed Savers is a definite must stop for people interested in sustainable agriculture/gardening. The garden beds are a delight to explore; I came away with several good ideas I plan to institute in my gardens next summer! We also had fun feeding the geese dandelion greens. The store is full of wonderful packets of seeds, as well as other gardening... More
