My sister and I go there when we are in town. They always have a nice art show going on. The docent is very informative.,

Wow. Blown away by the variety and quality of the exhibits at the Figge. Right now there is a textile exhibit that is exquisite. The University of Iowa collection is full of gems, including local artists and even Wright designs. Cute gift shop too. The building itself is modern and offers expansive views of the Mississippi. Only thing missing is... More

I recently visited thevFigge Museum in Davenport Iowa. The frozen forest exhibit is absolutely stunning and the views from the top floor are second to none in the city! I visited this alone and expected to be outside within 15 minutes. Instead, I found myself drawn deeper and deeper into each exhibit. Having spent a whole day there, I would... More

We came because of the fame of the architect, David Chipperfield. The building allows the art to shine. Frank Lloyd Wright, Grant Wood, Tiffany, and Audubon are some of the highlights. We "caught" the temporary fiber arts exhibit that was first class. Arturo Sandoval, Geary Jones, Lize Aviks, Karen Hampton, Tom Lundberg, Amy Clarke Moore; their fiber work is world... More

Awful. Sorry, I had high hopes upon viewing the exterior... however... -Most of the works presented in this poorly laid-out, glorified-gallery are from unknowns, born from nobody. -More money was spent on the building's aesthetics, rather than their collections -Local artists had 'arts and crafts' displayed throughout much of the museum (quilts from 2000?) -The building itself makes ZERO SENSE... Spent a rainy afternoon at The Figge and we totally enjoyed ourselves. Not crowded and they had beautiful works there.

Wonderful modern art building with cool exhibits. Meant to review this earlier. If you're into art, and have to go to Davenport, it may be your saving grace.

I took my kids (14, 12, 10) to their first art museum--although it was not their favorite, they all seemed to find something they enjoyed. The kids create room with art supplies and Lego was much enjoyed--and helped break up the viewing of the art work. We spent a few hours there and it was a learning experience for my... More
