The views from the overlook were amazing. We were there right after it snowed and the walkways were very icy and snow covered. Caution was needed, especially walking on the stairs. The views were totally amazing. Cannot wait to go back when it is warmer!

Not the beat time of the year to visit but can provide a great panoramic view of the area. That expedition still boggles my mind.

One of my most favorite places in Council Bluffs, over looks the river and the monument is really cool. Well kept, walking trails, the monument is handicap accessible there are also public bathrooms. Nice historical monument worth the short drive from Omaha or Council Bluffs. Also a great place to storm watch.

On top of this overlook you can see for miles and miles. An impressive view of the Missouri river valley. Worth taking a look.

the monument was located at an impressive overlook, with views of the beautiful city of omaha. its hard to compare since the land is obviously much more developed and slightly industrial, but you get the idea. only a couple of historical plaques with information so its pretty basic but informative.

You can see across the river to Omaha. The area below it is Big Lake park. You have a great view along with trails and a little park for the kids. Peaceful enjoyment.

I read the book about the Lewis and Clark Expedition. I really enjoyed stopping at several of the locations that were near where some of their historic visits took place. It is easy to use your imagination and look out over the current vista and just visualize what they must have seen and how it effected them. Really worth a... More

An impressively beautiful overlook; one can see the railroad terminal, the Missouri River, the cities of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska, and the Omaha airport.  Open 8 am to 10 pm. This area is significant, because it is where in 1804 the Corps of Discovery expedition had their historic, strategic meeting with the Otoe and Missouri Indians.
