Lots of great musicians have performed in this great venue. The dance floor is surrounded by tables and booths. There is a room devoted to pictures of Buddie Hollie and other musicians. Good bands still play here.

The Surf Ballroom is rock and roll history. The building is still used for concerts and other entertainment, but the real draw is the tragic events surrounding of the 1959 Winter Dance Party, which lead to the deaths of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the "Big Bobber". The "walking tour" allows you to explore the ballroom and its history which... More

What a fantastic place. Just saw Dwight Yoakam on Friday. Had no idea how much history this place held until I bought tickets and started reading about the place. If you're not aware, this is the last place Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens played before their plane went down a few miles away. Would highly suggest a... More

This was a real treat. You can stand on the stage where Buddy Holly last performed and see the phone booth where he made his last call to his wife, There is a gift shop and the volunteer who waited on us was very helpful.

Always have fun at the Surf. It is a great place to stop to tour, you will find the history of the Surf fascinating. Also has some big name concerts there. Last night it was Dwight Yokum. I have also see the Beach Boys, Alice Cooper and many other great groups there. No place to eat, but the drinks are... More

If you're interested in musical history this is a definite must see. Such a small venue for all the acts that appeared there. Bit of trivia is that Ozzie Nelson appeared there with his band as did Ricky Nelson and Rickys sons. Plenty of items to look at for musical history. Crash site is close by.

I have enjoyed my time at the Surf Ballroom. Whether it's a concert (Robert Cray, Alice Cooper, Jane monheit, beach Boys, Tom Jones, BB King, Kevin Costner ...ect) a wedding, High school prom, school field trips or perhaps the Winter dance party. The Surf is a historical venu that can not be missed. This is s must see in North... More

The Surf is a fun museum and ballroom that hosts a variety of events throughout the year. I've seen everything from Pink Floyd cover bands ("Think Floyd") to Willie Nelson in this place. The intimate space means that anywhere in the Surf is a great view for whatever band you are seeing. The only people who might not enjoy are... More
