Easy access from 35 - and fun to see Clear Lake. A sad event here, but good memories of Buddy Holly. Stop by for a visit. More

A very nice look into the early days of rock and roll and the venues the big stars played. It has been restored to look much like it did in 1959 on 'the day the music died'. Very interesting. I also visited the crash site. There isn't much there and you have to walk a ways to get there. More

I have always wanted to go visit this place and when I had a business trip in Waterloo, IA I got the change to visit it. I also went to the crash site, which is about 5 min. from the Surf Ballroom. More

Best place for a concert - ever! Small venue. Good acoustics. Good beer and drink prices. Nostalgia. Well maintained. Large women's bathroom. Hotel within walking distance. This is our #1 favorite place to go for concerts. More

On a road trip, I was the only visitor for the first two hours of Buddy Holly's birthday, September 7, 2011; I guess everyone else was in Los Angeles at the Buddy Holly: Listen to Me concert. Visiting the Surf Ballroom has been on my list of places to see since I was in my teens...this was worth the wait... More

The Surf Ballroom is full of nostalgia, history and mementos of people who have played there. You can freely walk around the ballroom and take pictures. There is no charge, but they do accept donations. The musician's waiting room offstage is full of their signatures (on all the walls, the door and even the ceiling). Lining the walls of the... More
