Oh my gosh! This place is so charming - it was like you stepped into the 195j0's. I was awe struck by all the pictures, articles and knowing we were walking the same halls as some of the music pioneers.

The Surf Ballroom has been unchanged since that fateful night in 1958, but still hosts some great musical acts. I've seen Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Slash featuring Myles Kennedy, and the sound is fantastic. There is room for about 1,500 and there are booths that surround the main floor that are worth renting if you don't want to stand during... More

I remember exactly where I was 'the day the music died'. To be able to visit this memorable place was just amazing. To step onto the stage, to see the 'white room', the phone booth... I was blown away! I cannot thank enough the lady at the Iowa Welcome Center who suggested this visit. I had no idea we were... More

This museum and ballroom has some amazing music history! Is really brought back a lot of memories, not only of the Buddy Holly era but much more. Ricky Nelson is another favorite as well as the Beach Boys! This is a must see museum!

Went to the surf ballroom for the first time to the ZZ Top concert. Had a great time enjoying the old photos and memorabilia inside the bar and museum area, and the show was awesome. It's like watching a concert in a roller rink. A must see bucket list thing to do.

Fun place to take in a concert or just visit to memoribila from early rock 'n roll! Looks like it did when Buddy Holly played his last concert there.

I will admit, I was not sure what to expect when my husband and Mother wanted to visit this place. Clear Lake itself is a beautiful community, so that was encouraging. When you enter the parking lot, it looks like an old, but well maintained venue. As soon as you walk in the building, it is like being transported back... More

I stopped by the surf ballroom to see the museum, but they were having a big luncheon, so I decided not to do the museum. the area and the lake are very pretty, so visit when you are in the area, day or nights when they have something going on.

Fantastic. 1955 is alive and well here. A shrine. The photos and "green" room are worth the visit alone. And the ballroom is amazing.
