Made a special trip on my way to Dubuque to visit the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art last month. The building and lobby were nice and unusual. The, what I believe is the older area of the museum, by the gift shop, is very nice. The rest of the museum and exhibits were very gratifying. The only area that really... More

I absolutely love visiting the art museum whenever I get a chance. Organized, open, and clean -- the museum is a great place to look at art, read about history, and just walk around.

The CR Museum of Art is home to a number of native son, Grant Wood's paintings. Stop by and enjoy this special treat and the other interesting temporary exhibits. Don't miss a trip to the gift shop to find a treasure of your own.

Maybe it's because it's a small Midwestern city, but I did not like most of the artwork that was shown in the exhibits. the outside of the museum was really pretty, but then the inside is very different.

Thank you for your review of the CRMA. We have a wide variety of art on view at any given time, currently displayed in 7 exhibitions in our 16 galleries. The art in these galleries is always changing. I hope when you return to visit that you will find something that appeals to you. More

Grant Wood is a favorite native son of Cedar Rapids, so it is appropriate that the local art museum has a large gallery devoted to his work. And, the museum also operates the studio in which Wood painted some of his most famous works. It's just a few blocks away. Both are well worth a visit.

Large building but not a lot to see. Can't be compared to the Met, Whitney or Modern Art in NYC. Good way to pass a rainy Saturday.

Discovering The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art was a wonderful surprise. Beginning with the exterior of the building - it is a very striking design - bold yet tasteful in it's look. I love that the new design integrated the Carnegie building. As to the work on display, the day we were there, I would have liked to see more... More

I'm not much of an "Art Person " but this museum is worth a couple hours of your time. Right now they have a Science Fiction Exibit. Being a computer geek I was drawn to see what it was all about

This art museum really surprised me. It's fairly small, but it has an excellent collection of Grant Wood works and an amazing collection of prints by Mauricio Lansansky (arguably the father of modern printmaking). The collection comes right up into the contemporary scene, featuring new work from contemporary artists right along side the classics. There is also a really interesting... More
