Great way to kill an afternoon

I've been here a few times over the years, and they have an ever changing selection of art. It's quite fun to browse.

The building itself is beautiful, with a lovely atrium that's almost like a greenhouse. Apparently half of it is new construction. The gift shop is very nice, and there's a large lounge with books available for browsing. The art collection on display isn't huge, and I wished they had more Grant Wood pieces out. But there was a nice variety... More

Your greeter was very informative and helpful. The museum is beautiful! We just moved to Iowa two months ago... I've been dying to get here. I was not disappointed! The Grant Wood exhibit had a diverse collection of his artwork! I had never seen some of those artworks before! They had a wonderfully diverse collection: African grain locks (carved wooden... More

Thank you for your visit and very thoughtful review. It sounds like you enjoyed everything we had to offer, and that's wonderful! Come back again as we do change our exhibitions every few months. We do welcome selfies in most of the galleries most of the time, so I'm glad to hear you took advantage of that opportunity. More

I enjoyed the museum though I traditionally am picky about my favorite styles, but that is what venues of this type attract.

Came across this museum as I was looking for something to do while my husband was working in town. The exhibit space is quite large. They have a selection of paintings on Iowan artists featuring Grant Wood. Each piece has a plaque explaining the artist and the piecr. Very helpful for those of us unfamiliaar with art. They also, have an... More

Thank you for your review and for your visit. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the galleries and, specifically, the Roman busts which are a unique feature that we are fortunate to have on display. Our exhibitions change frequently. If you are back next summer, you might enjoy an exhibition we have planned featuring Rodin. Happy travels, and we hope... More

This small museum is in an I there's ting building but the contents are not very interesting with the exception of the Grant Wood exhibit. All of the paintings are by Cedar Rapid residents

Thank you for your review. We currently have 7 exhibitions on view, ranging from the work of Grant Wood to a temporary all-Iowa exhibition to our Roman exhibition and our display of African door locks. With the exception of Grant Wood and our Roman installation, all the other galleries are constantly changing with new exhibitions occurring on a rotating basis.... More

Great little museum. Enjoyed the Grant Wood "room" and also the exhibit on art from Iowa on display during the summer. The Museum shop is excellent. Free parking and hassle free everything.

The Museum is very nice for a town this size. Having been to larger museums like The Metropolitan in NY and the museums in Chicago- this museum is architectural interesting. At this time Thursday nights have free admission and there is a children's area for bringing out the artist side of your little person !

Thank you for your review. I'm glad you enjoyed our architecture. Our building is a combination of the original Carnegie library, attached to a design by Charles Moore for the atrium and gallery. More

This free museum was empty on the Thursday we visited. I felt like I was given such an amazing opportunity to really study the gorgeous Grant Wood collection without distractions. Everything is lovely and it's a very impressive collection. Do Not Miss this if you are a fan of Grant Wood's art!!

Thank you for reviewing the CRMA on TripAdvisor. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the Grant Wood gallery and recommending it to others. I wanted to let you know that Feb. 6- May 15, 2016 we will have a special exhibition of Grant Wood and Marvin Cone to celebrate their 125th birthdays. I hope you can make it. More
