This was the first stop of a week long vacation. We had purchased a groupon which was 2 adult/2kid tickets on the train and the museum. I had called to make reservations and the customer service person let me know that it would be good to come early and do the museum first and then get some lunch and then... More

We were in Des Moines for a week & on July 4th we decided to do the train ride. My kids were excited to ride a real train, so it was worth the price. Not a lot to look at during the ride besides a ton of trees! We did pass by a YMCA kids camp, the Des Moines river... More

I have been on the train in Boone several times. My grandpa was a train buff, so we would be frequent visitors. We once took the dinner train, and it is worth the money, especially if you are with someone who loves all things trains! My husband and I recently took our daughter and three children I take care of... More

I liked it. Unfortunately I get motion sick so I recommend taking something ahead of time. I did get to stand in the snack car with the wind blowing on me and that seemed to help. Then the trip was great. We had a wonderful time.

My husband rented the Caboose and proposed to me during a ride in October 2012! Everyone was so nice and so helpful and supportive! It was so special and truly wonderful! It's a wonderful journey back in time! We were on it in the fall and the colors were beautiful. We want to ride it at different times of the... More

I have always been fascinated by trains, especially steam engines and older trains. I didn't really know what to expect when we arrived, but it was an incredible experience. It was a warm day so we booked the air conditioned car. We got into the car and realized that the windows were tinted somewhat and that the views would not... More

It was boring. There were only two "scenic" areas. The rest was a view of a kids camp, greenhouse, homes, and the sides of hills. There were no "concessions" on board like it said. The train swayed back and forth, so I'm glad we didn't have a meal on it. I would save your money unless you just want to... More

We had avery nice train ride and an interesting tour of the museum, well worth a visit. Only disappointment was there is nowhere to get something to eat other than snacks and pop on the train. A small coffee bar in the Depot or Museum would add a great deal.

One of our group was waiting for a knee replacement and would have trouble boarding the dinner train, but the Conductor is an EMT and knew exactly how to help her board without any problems. The service by the two servers was great. They have a great sense of humor and made the trip a great deal of fun. Having... More
