My wife & I took our 2 1/2 year old son to this little train trip. We drove three hours from omaha. It's not the most exciting trip in the world but it is well worth it. If you go on Saturdays they pull with a steam engine and that is worth the price of admission alone. It isn't cheap,... More

We took the basic coach tour, wish we would've done the open air valley view. It was a little warm to be sitting in a coach. That is really the only thing I can say negative about this excursion. An hour and 45 minute trip through beautiful scenery and the trip over the bridge was breathtaking. Guides were very informative and... More

A great way to spend an afternoon! Wonderful people, beautiful scenery and interesting history. They don't specify that you can get a private car. ..we got one by chance and loved it. Really enjoyed going out on the caboose to ride outside for awhile.

Worst waste of an afternoon ever! $80 for 4 people!!! All we saw was weeds and trees, two hours of weeds and trees! So many people on our car were falling asleep.....nothing scenic about it at all! I wish I could get my money back! You won't find the place on Facebook because I'm sure they would get bad reviews!

the train runs about 2 hours, which goes over the Des Moines River, and you are up about 150 feet up while going over the Katie Shelley Bridge. $20 a person for unair conditioned car, each car has a staff member who talks thru out the train ride. Includes admission to a train museum which has some interesting items if... More

We thought we would take a relaxing train ride while traveling through Iowa. We paid for the first class tickets since it was hot and the train car was suppose to be air conditioned. It was HOT! People who were sitting up top came down to the lower level because if the heat. We were sweating. As far as the... More

About a two hour train trip. Highlight is the ride over the Kate Shelley bridge. A very high iron structure. Steam engine runs only on Saturdays.

I wouldn't pay full price for this, we used a groupon otherwise it would have been over $100 for 4 of us. The sites were neat but it was very hot inside those cars. It was a rough ride and many others and myself got motion sickness. The trees were within arms reach and that is what you stared at... More

met a friend up in boone last week, and rode the train. both of us really enjoyed it. they also have a nice big museum, if you like train stuff. don't miss the film railroads and the war, playing in the museum. during the week the train is pulled by an old diesel switcher, so if you have to have... We went for the ride with our friends who live nearby and we were not disappointed. We chose the regular couch tickets inside, the windows could be partially opened, so we could still peek outside if we wanted. The best part are the two bridges at the end, what a sight! Train goes very slowly, so you have time to... More
