This museum provides another view at the Dutch defences at the beginning of WW II: here the invasion was halted up and until the capitulation. The museum is run by volunteers that seem to be proud of that past. This museum provides an alternative view at the Afsluitdijk: when visiting the Afsluitdijk, consider including Kornwerderzand. Well preserved bunkers on the afsluitdijk are worth a visit if you're in the area. They are all available to go inside and filled with exhibits on their construction and role in war time. Unfortunately for international visitors, the museum materials are only in Dutch, but there are still interesting artifacts to look at. Lots of walking outside between bunkers... More

Windy, so take a nice day. It has a lot of walking involved, up and down paths, steps and stairs. It is good to get in and out of bunkers. Every bunker has a lot of info on the second world war and the actions this fort took. The displays are good and well updated. The site is run by... More
