We love to go here around the holidays for their yummy selections of cheese for our holiday platters. You can buy pre-packaged or by the pound. No tour but there is a big window where you shop to view how they make the cheese :).

Shipshewana is a great place to visit and shop, but just a short drive west to Middlebury will take you to Deutsch Kase Haus. Translated I think it means The Cheese House.Great cheese to buy, and a view of how it is made.

We had thought that there would be a tour but you could look through two windows and see two long vats being raked. There were small samples available of many cheeses that their store carries.

Well worth the stop. Out in the heart of Amish farming country and a very nice place well worth the visit. Dozens of cheeses to sample and buy at fair prices. Also have some pretzels, candies, cold drinks and other stops.

If you want great cheese you need to stop into the Deutsch Kase Haus. They have every kind of cheese imaginable as well as several they put together themselves (Salsa Cheese). You can sample all the cheeses and the prices are very good. If you visit at the right time you can watch them making cheese.

We really enjoyed the cheeses. There are samples to be tasted of almost everything, and very high quality craftsmanship. The one thing I had a problem with is that is was hard to move around and even though we were there in the middle of the week, it was really crowded and we were shoulder to shoulder with folks which... Loved the cheese samples. Being able to view the making of the cheese through the windows was very interesting. A must try is the grilled cheese sandwiches outside, just below the store. You are able to choose either Texas toast or Garlic Cheese toast, and you get to choose your cheese, as well. Delicious and very cheesy sandwiches. The garlic... More

So many samples of cheeses that you may have never tried before! The Garlic Cheese is amazing! First time we went I had expected the prices to be inflated, but actually they were less per pound than here at home a Kroger or Meijer. The have a viewing window for people to watch them making cheese, which is really cool.... More
