A little cool for the beach

I was able to take a walk around the lake and get some photos. The parks in La Porte are beautiful with trails that meander and give you a range of floral and fauna experiences.

A very lovely spot to spend some time. Quiet, and west facing so enjoy the sunset here. On the east side of the lake are some great places to plan your next trip, very unexpected and relaxing !!!

Pretty lake for boating and fishing. Good boat launches, nice small town atmosphere with fast food and family dinning near by.

Shoreline fishing is hard to come by at this very nice smaller lake. Bait can be purchased at the local 7/11. Fishing boats rented from a local marina, and are really needed if you expect to catch any fish! There is a beach for the kiddies, very empty during the week, and some picnic tables scattered around and plenty of... More

Friends recommended that we take a look at Pine Lake. Found it to be good fishing. Stocked with blue gills, walleye, perch and bass.

My husband and I rented a cottage across from Pine Lake for 6 days. We picked this location because his family is in the Portage.Merrilleville area. We wanted a place close enough to see his family, yet still a vacation destination for us. Pine Lake turned out to be the perfect choice. It is a small community, very safe feeling... More

We like to picnic when traveling in summer, and a park on the southeast side of the lake was very convenient. The lake is visually interesting, with peninsulas and islands. Lakefront looks much better away from the busy commercial strip along the east side of the lake.

I go here a lot, to sit and read, sit and think, or just watch people. It's quiet. good place to sit and think. Good place to fish or ride in your boat. There is a place close by called Blue Heron where you can rent a house boat and spend the night on the water.
