Was ride my bicycle to visit this place with friends in the late afternoon, summer 2014. It's too late to visit the museum. So I spend my time with a patat (dutch french fryies with mayonaise sause) & drink from cafe beside. Just sit down & relax enjoying the good atmosphere.

The Sloten windmill is a comfortable tram ride from the city. Once you get to the last stop on the No.2 tram, cross the tracks towards the left and look out for the signs on the lamp posts!! A walk past a canal over a bridge and a beautiful little village gets you to the wonder that is the Sloten... More

If you want to see how a windmill works and visit every floor with a guide do go to this windmill. The guided tour was about 30 minutes. We visited every floor, some of the stairs are very steep so wear sensible shoes. Very modern ways of telling the information, good education value for children of school age. There is a small... This windmill is beautiful. It works and it is possible to visit it. The miller and the other workers of this attraction realized an excellent explanation and they were even very friendly. There is even an interesting museum. If you are in Amsterdam, i advice to you to visit this windmill.

We did not visit the museum but the windmill is a perfect example of the old windmills and is in a beautiful area of town.

It looked like a great place to visit. It had a little shop and souvenirs, but before I could approach the door the lady inside, waved her arms at me with a scowl on her face and quickly turned on her heel. Whoa! Apparently that's the way they relay to you that they are closed. I did not try to... More

A charming lady took us round this working windmill and gave a very informative talk in fluent English on the history, re-building and workings of the mill and the duke system. Some people might not manage the steep stairs - but its well worth it if you can.

Can be reached by No 2 tram (to end of line) then approx. 1 KM signposted walk through a lovely small village. Look out for the "Bannishing" Post, but it's well worth the effort. Our knowledgeable personal guide explained in detail the purpose and workings of Dutch windmills and the tour through this windmill (the only one open to the... More

This is a lovely example of a working windmill. The guided tour is very details and gives a wonderfully understandable explanation of how this wonder really works. I was told that this is the only windmill that is open to the public around Amsterdam, and that makes the 8 Euros ticket price even more reasonable. no visit to the Netherland... More
