My wife and I love the paved trails at Fort Harrison State Park. They are wide enough for us to walk next to each other and allow the bikers to get by easily. They are also somewhat shaded for those hot days. It is a very peaceful walking path and worth the cost of getting into the park. Much better... More

It isn't the greatest park in the state but it is located in Indianapolis and for it being in the city it is a nice nature escape from all the cars and concrete. The trails are great and makes you feel like you are out of the city at least for a little day trip! Fort Harrison State Park also... More

Your kids will love the large slide on one of the playgrounds even when they are really young, there is plenty to do here from hiking to fishing and once a year they have a program that allows the family to experience the outdoors together but I believe you may need tix!

Ft. Harrison State Park is a beautiful park. Lots of hiking & biking trails, beautiful playgrounds for the younger kids. The bike trail through the park is very nice, although there are some hills that may challenge some. The grounds of the old military base are also interesting, and many of these have been converted into businesses and/or motel rooms.... More

This beautiful park has miles of trails, beautiful scenery, and at this time, absolutely stunning red bud trees in full bloom. I found this park through an app (OK Ranger -- give it a chance!) as I was spending the night in Indianapolis with my dog, without a lot of time to find great things to do. There is a... More

Excellent Park in NE Indy. My friends and I visited a couple days during our 4 night stay to run, hike and enjoy the outdoors. The park entrance fee is low ($5 a car), there is plenty of restrooms, lots of trails (both paved and off-trail for running/walking/biking), and plenty of green space to enjoy

As with all state parks, there are many offerings for recreation or rest. Some of the walking areas will be on the sidewalk in front of people's homes...homes that were formerly used by the military who were housed there. There is a golf course for the golfer. There are hiking trails and biking trails. In addition, those trails can be... More

This park has something for everyone. If you want to run, walk, hike or stroll there's space to do it. The hugs central play place is great for the kids. The hill is awesome for sledding and a great work out in nice weather. $40 for an entire year of use is a fabulous bargain!

Went here for a hike and found it to be most pleasant. There are easy paths and paths that are a bit more difficult. It is quiet and the many of the paths are shaded by the woods. Some of the paths are a bit precarious as there are tree roots, rocks and steep drop offs. The paths very in... More
