Lots of great exhibits on Indiana history. Current exhibit till Oct 2015 is on quilts. Fascinating history told through these quilts that span something like 150 years. Well done. The two story gift shop is unique and a good place to explore. Rocks and minerals to Dillenger's sedan make for a wide array of exhibits. Love that the building is... More

I spent a glorious afternoon at the Indiana State Museum experiencing "That Ayres Look" a tribute to Indy's hometown department store. The exhibit was captivating, interactive and chock full of nostalgia! An actor portrayed Lyman S. Ayres, wonderfully in character, he volleyed great answers to questions staying true to history. The exhibit took me back to a time when The... More

This is definitely a must see for anyone living or visiting Indiana. Lots of exhibits and things to see relating to Indiana's past, present, and even future! Underground parking facility, within walking distance to some of the downtown hotels, and on the White River Canal.

We visited the museum on June 11. There is a parking lot under the museum (W. Washington Street at Eiteljorg museum). The entrance fee for the museum is $13. We always visit the State Museum when we are in the capitol of a state. A lot of them are free or give discount for active military. Most of them were... More

The State Museum, Eitlejorg museum and the Zoo are all on the same campus with access to all three along the canal. The State museum hosts the original Ayres Tea Room which was a standard in the 60s and their original chicken velvet soup is still served there for lunch. There is an Omnimax theater, many exhibits (check to see... More

Yes, get lost with all the exhibits, hands on, the history of Indiana is superbly displayed. The children love to see the animals when they walk through the Native American area

Had a nice conference dinner at the museum. It is a must see after the art museum. The canals behind the museum are very cool. The Lincoln room is a must see.

We love going here and are annual members. The changing exhibits are great fun and have a huge variety. They also have an IMAX theatre that is quite nice. Good value - but we always go across the street for lunch at the TGIFridays.
