The Indiana State Museum is a great source for Indiana history. It covers periods from the pre-historic to the contemporary. In the latter category was a temporary exhibit on Prohibition. I had seen this exhibit at a museum in another city, but the one in Indiana really brought this period to life.

Museum was "ordinary" but the Prohibition special exhibit was special. VERY well thought out with exceptional displays. Really felt like we were "there" and rejoiced when Prohibition ended !! So much to see and touch.

Knowing little about IN & having just moved here a year ago, I was anxious to learn more about Indiana. We went with a group from the senior center in Greenwood & enjoyed seeing the exhibits. Our experience was enhanced enormously by our guide who has much knowledge of Indiana. I'm sorry I don't know her name but she's a... More

We spent several hours at the museum, taking in all three floors of exhibits. We had never been there before but found that each led into the next very well and the people working there were very happy to provide any extra information. The IMAX was really nice with three different shows to choose from and a "two-fer" deal if... More

I guess I'm just a cheapskate. I felt the cost of admission and parking was more than I got out of the experience. We like to visit state museums, capitols, and the like so it's not like this was a first for us. There were some neat exhibits, but found the layout odd and disjointed at times. The staff didn't... Wow... This was a fantastic visit. I loved the convenience of the museum it was across the street from my hotel. I loved the organization of the museum. It was great to watch an I MAX movie I chose to watch JERUSALEM well worth watching. Then I was advised kindly to start at the top which I did and it... More

After dropping off my wheelchair for repairs, we decided to kill time by visiting the Indiana State Museum. From the outside, the museum is very architecturally-pleasing, and its proximity to the canal and the rest of downtown makes it stand out in a good way. Once inside the building, we noticed that the staff was not that enthusiastic when giving... More

The exhibit was interactive! At the beginning there are banners and sashes you can put on for pictures. You can find out if you are a "wet" or a "dry". You can learn the Charleston and have your picture taken in a line up. It was a lot of fun, reading and interacting. I walked around other exhibits, as well,... More

The Indiana State Museum building is HUGE, luckily the actual museum only occupies about 1/3 of the massive building. The rest is the IMAX Theater, Café and a big atrium. The adventure starts on the bottom floor, the main entry is really off the canal. If you enter on the South side from Washington Street, you have to walk down... More

I visited the Indiana State Museum for a conference reception. The museum is very nice to walk up on and very modern on the inside. There are lots to see so plan to spend a good chunk of time here. The museum back up to the canal.
