I work at a museum and am pretty picky about museums, but this one exceeded my expectations. Great displays, interpretations that were interesting to both us parents and our kids, and a fascinating variety. Nice cafe (though wish we could have eaten in the tea room) and good museum shop. I highly recommend for all ages.

Excellent layout and even with three hours we did not see it all. Plan to return. Friendly staff and excellent review of each period of history. As noted by others lot of kids of all ages to do. I would recommend this museum for all ages! Well divided so even with a large number of people easy to move around.

Beginning with the fingerprint of earth's history (dinosaurs, fossils, etc.), then transitioning into the geological and biological history of Indiana, followed by an informative history of the State of Indiana, the ISM was a pleasant surprise that was captivating and informative. An added bonus is its location so that one can leave the building and be on the magnificent Canal... More

The interior of this building is attractive. The atmosphere is relaxing and peaceful. We loved to see old car and train in the big hall.

This museum covers the History of Indiana from before the dinosaurs til today. The vast collection is interesting, even if Indiana itself doesn't sound that intriguing. I particularly enjoyed the settlers and wartime pieces. This would be a perfect stop for children - lots of hands on exhibits.

The museum was all about Indiana from it's past with dinosaurs and slaves to how it built up to the city it is today. The museum was huge but there were only a handful of people there. I thought that for such a big museum, there would have been more exhibits. The best part of the museum was the exhibit... More

This was an amazing museum for all ages. I loved it and would definitely go back. Its a great museum sharing many different topics on history. There are cool skeletons, and some amazing replicas and even real artifacts. This is a place where all ages would enjoy being and relaxing, and just having fun. It is also right along a... More

We were looking for things to do with the children and this came up. It has lots of different displays and lots of interests as well. It's clean and kept the interest of us as well! I'm not sure we would go back but it was money and time well spent and enjoyed.

Employees were nice enough, but the layout of the museum can be less confusing. For someone who is visiting Indiana for the first time, and knowing very little of its history, the museum does not do a very good job telling the state's story.

My family visited this museum last year and really enjoyed it. We liked learning about Indiana and my son thought the dinosaur part was pretty cool. There is an IMAX theatre and a nice view from the windows. When we went there was a fun Star Wars exhibit that my son and husband both really liked. Also there was a... More
