I may be a bit biased, having been born and raised in Indiana, but I love this museum! Some have commented that it's a bit small compared to other big city museums, but I think it's just right. I appreciated not being overwhelmed by an excessive amount of things to look at. There are just enough to keep you interested... More

The museum was closed for a private event, but we went for the Imax Theatre. Not many people there as it was the last show of the day. We saw "Born Wild". We sat in the 2nd to the top row (kids picked the seats). Fun with the 3-D glasses. Beautiful movie, sharp and clear, vivid colors. We did snacks... More

I was in Indy on biz and stopped by the ISM on a Sunday afternoon. I was very impressed with the quality of all of the exhibits and came away with a greater appreciation of the state's history and its course of events which before my visit, had only spotty knowledge of. Of import are the presentation of the pre-historic... More

This would be more suitable to older children and families. My granddaughter was with me, and while there were some things she enjoyed, it was spread far apart. I enjoyed what I saw of the museum, and the day we were there, they had an interactive program for children - but again, it was better suited for older children and... More

went specifically to see Imax. They had a special where you watch the first one and then take your ticket stub and for $5 more you can see the second one. Both were well done and they even had a special to get a free popcorn if you reviewed your Imax experience. It was fun and on top of that... More

Not all of the museum is available to the public at this time, as parts of it are under construction. But don't let that stop you from visiting - we had a great time here. The exhibits are very nice. We particularly enjoyed the current exhibit on quilts - they were so incredible, and so intricate! The gift shop is... More

Staff was very helpful if needed. Went to view the IMAX movie and it was up to par with a typical IMAX experience. The self guided tour is nice in a beautiful building.

I've been to a lot of museums in the world, and frankly, I was a bit underwhelmed by the Indiana State Museum. Not that it was bad in anyway, just that it was a little too eclectic in its focus and collection. Sure, it has stuff from Indiana history, but there seemed fewer exhibits than might be found in a... This is a great museum! Nicely done exhibits with great history details. The kids loved the interactive exhibits. The county representations outside of the building are unique and fun to look at. We visited at Christmas time when they have the Christmas tree decorated with each county's ornament. It's just beautiful. Plenty of room to get around. By the canal... More

We bought a membership to see the museum and have gone a few times. It is nice and cool inside and the exhibits are laid out well. If you are from out of town - not a must see, but it is a fun place to spend an hour or two.
