This museum starts from the formation of the earth through modern times. It is well presented with some interative exhibits. We visited on a nice day in April and the museum was almost empty. We had about 2 hours until the museum closed, and we did not use it wisely. I think we spent too much time on the geological... More

I live in Indianapolis and the State Museum has great traveling exhibits and a wonderful Imax. Just recently I went for the Gem show and the new exhibit on Mastedons and Wooly Mammoths. Recently I went to the Star Wars exhibit and an Indoor Art Fair. A spacious and lovely museum.

Located in White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis, this is a great museum in a gorgeous building. The 55ft tall Indiana Obelisk by Hoosier artist Robert Indiana - who also designed the LOVE statue in Philadelphia takes pride of place in the huge atrium. I spent a happy two hours in there including watching the IMAX The Last Reef.... More

While visiting my home state for a funeral, our family had a few hours to spend in this beautiful museum. It was interactive for our girls ages 9 and 7. After spending most of our trips visiting the Children's Museum, this would be our new favorite educational and entertaining spot to visit again. There are so many cool features that... More

My wife and I went here on a cold and rainy day. $10 per ticket isn't bad and there is a lot to see, 3 floors worth. The museum covers everything from prehistoric history to pop culture. There is also a gift shop and restaurant inside the museum.

A large building with a number of exhibits that highlight the Indiana culture and heritage. The cafe had fresh items prepared in a delicious fashion. On the day that we visited, there was a green recycling event taking place.

I was surprised with how much I enjoyed this museum. There was a lot to do and see. Avoid the cafe unless you are super starving or willing to spend a lot of money on overpriced snacks. I am looking forward to visiting again maybe next time we will catch an IMAX showing!
