I ran here a couple of times during our stay in Downtown Indianapolis. It is a neat place to run. I would love to come back in the summer time and walk along the canal and eat at the Italian restaurant that I ran past that had outdoor seating along the canal. I ran the entire length and got in... The Canal is the most favorite place I love to visit living here in Indy! Its so beautiful. I love to take walks with the family or just me and my hubby alone. In the spring and fall is even more beautiful. It so much to see and do. You can either walk, ride bikes, take a boat or gondola... More

Great place to unwind and take in the scenery. Beside rowing up and down the canal, you can walk or pedal bike/cars around it, catch some thing to eat, see the 9/11 memorial or Indianas' Museum. At the end of the canal, is the entrance to their Zoo!

The addition of the canal in downtown Indy certainly helps give a yuppie feel to the place. You will see all manner of people strolling along the canal. There are small boats for rent and even a gondola should the mood strike you to hit the water. There are small bridges along the way that give you a multilevel experience.... More

The canal is great to walk along especially in the summer. Outside of paddleboats, there's not much to do along it. The city should really invest or allow investment of adding patio restaurants so people can enjoy the scenery during lunch/dinner.

My husband and I went and walked the Canal on New Years Day. It is beautiful and so clean. Because of the holiday all of the restaurants were closed, though we would love to return and have a picnic lunch or ride the gondolas. It is a fantastic feature for Indianapolis and we are looking forward to returning to visit... More

In terms of the Midwest cities which can seem to be somewhat generic at times, this canal allows Indianapolis to stand out a little from the crowd. It was once designed as an industrial canal but never completed, and remains now as a pathway of leisure, connecting the central part of the city with the river with a few attractions... More

We went and visited the canal on a beautiful spring afternoon with our visiting student from Spain. All four kids had a blast. They could run around, have ice cream, and enjoy the beauty of the architecture and canal design. There were many other things to do like riding gondolas or bikes as well.

The canal provides residents and visitors a wonderful place to walk and run. There are also boating activities in the summer and you may find an occasional temporary kiosk for a water or treat. The canal is actually part of a wonderful vision in White Water state park. Unfortunately, zoning issues and residents wanting to minimize noise has also minimized... More
