Our family of six was traveling through Indianapolis on our way home from an extensive driving vacation and needed a quick activity stop. We visited the canal and rented two paddle boats and a kayak. Wheel Fun rentals has a booth in the canal area that offers hourly rentals and allowed our 13 yr old to take a kayak out... More

The downtown part is sort of an urban showcase, with many buildings displaying artwork and sculpture outside them on the Canal Walk. There are paddle boats and gondola rides in the summer, along with free outdoor concerts on the Indiana Historical Society lawn (which borders the Canal) in the Summer. The northern section from 30th Street north to Broad Ripple... More

We walked alomg the whole canal which was a fun leisurely thing to do. Also rented a paddleboat for 30 minutes from Wheel Fun Rentals which was a great experience. However, I expected thethere to be more shops and restraunts on the canal walk. Still a fun way to see part of the city.

From the NCAA headquarters my husband and I took our son along the canal. We went in the morning so there were not a lot of cyclists or other people walking. It was a relaxing way to chat and look at the city. The walkway was very clean and there are different styles of artworks under the bridges. In a... More

I love walking this path when I visit Indy. Just don't get run over by the bikers. 5 stars if there was less duck and goose poo everywhere.

What a great haven from the rush of the city. I rented a cycle to fully explore the canal and the city cycle routes.

We were staying at the Springhill Suites and stumbled upon the canal over by the NCAA headquarters. We decided to see where it went and started walking with our two kids, ages 8 and 5. What a pleasant stroll. The canal walkway is very clean. There are various paintings under the bridges. If you would like, you can rent paddle... More

We decided to check this area out on a Saturday evening. Finding a place to park proved to be rather frustrating. We finally found a parking garage that had prices listed according to hours of usage, but a mobile sign was erected indicating it was a special event and there would be a flat fee of 10 dollars. It was... More

This canal is so beautiful, gondolas and paddleboats.. the beautiful landscaping and the memorial to the USS Indianapolis is amazing. We walked from the Walnut st entrance all the way to the Library and Museum.. what we could have used was a shop that sold beverages along the way!! this is a nice place to take a slow walk and...
