There is soo much to see in this area. If you aren't much into walking there are plenty of options for renting kayaks, bikes, and segways. Great place for everyone.

We took a bike ride around the canal and loved it. Such a beautiful area. If the canal isn't enough there are museums, restaurants and a zoo in the area as well. If your in the area you should make time to check this area out.

On a recent trip toward Chicago, I knew we'd be traveling through Indianapolis so I checked TripAdvisor for recommended activities. This Central Canal walk interested me so we got off the freeway to check out. As it turns out, this was probably one of our favorite activies of the weekend. We were there on a Friday afternoon around 1:00. We... More

Peaceful and empty in the morning. No auto traffic to worry about either and the length of the run can vary easily. I have run at lunch time, which generally works better at the northern half

I was really impressed by the 1.5 mile long central canal. If you have been to San Antonio it's like the River Walk but a lot less commercial and more relaxing and peaceful. In fact, most of the buildings around the canal are residential. This is walking distance from most hotels downtown and is located right near the museums in... More

We only had a day in Indianapolis and were delighted to walk through the various museums alongside the lovely man-made canal. It was a unique way to view the cultural parts of the City. Would return in a heartbeat.

The time and effort the City of Indianapolis spent redoing the Canal area has paid off - it is truly a gem in the middle of the city- lots of joggers and bikers; rental paddle boats as well.. Take a half hour and wind down.....

Our family of six was traveling through Indianapolis on our way home from an extensive driving vacation and needed a quick activity stop. We visited the canal and rented two paddle boats and a kayak. Wheel Fun rentals has a booth in the canal area that offers hourly rentals and allowed our 13 yr old to take a kayak out... More
