You probably won't expect there is such a place right in downtown, next to coffee and bread stores. But once you visit, you will discover a different experience. This little discovery center has many collections of musical instruments, mainly idiophone, such as drums, xylophone and timpani. Some of the ethnic instruments are first seen for me. Many of them are... More

My kids loved it. We were there for 2 hours. Kids 5 & under are free & I used a coupon on visitindy.com for $2 off my admission. It is a very small place, but it was a good change of pace from the children's museum. Not too crowded.

I was pleasantly surprised by this musuem, what a novel idea. I took my 5 and 7 year old sons there to burn off some energy and kill some time. For boys that age there was little interest in the historical aspects of rhythm-making but they definitely enjoyed the noise-making. The Rhythm center has plenty to offer, they have drums... More

I took my 3 year old here on a cold day to get out of the house and we had a blast. The interactive displays were outstanding and the amount of history they have collected is very impressive. It is a great activity for the entire family and far less crowded hectic than most area family attractions. We were able... More

My 2.5 year old did not want to leave! They've done an amazing job of blending displays with interactive activities. What kid doesn't want to play a drum set or any type of percussion instrument you can imagine? If we lived in Indy, we'd purchase a family membership.

I'm an enthusiastic percussionist, and very much enjoyed this museum, right downtown, but easy to not notice from the street if you don't know about it. Lot's of historic drums, some used by famous drummers like Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa Joe Morello and others. They have the drums used by Ndugu Chancellor to record Billie Jean with Michael Jackson, and... More

The other reviewers said lots of good stuff - we went and it was awesome! While we were there, probably 30% of the exhibits were down (rebuilding) so that was a bit of a rip but regardless, this place is awesome! My kids (11/5/2) all loved it as did I.

Thank you for the great review and sorry you were subject to our mess as we build the new exhibit opening November 13. I hope you are able to stop by again after the exhibit is completed. More

This place is truly a discovery. The well curated museum alone with its hugely diverse collection is worth the trip. But the opportunity to try every possible percussion instrument in the world will delight and entertain everyone from 6 to 99. Transported adults to childlike play and delighted children for hours. Plus we all learned something about cultures, history, art... More

Talk about a place to make some noise. Every person that wants to learn about music and sound need to go and visit. The cost is really cheap and can go through the museum in 2 hours.

We were the only ones here during our visit. I cannot imagine this place with lots of kids banging on things. It would be too much! And the sound proof rooms with the drum set was really great but taking turns would be hard if there was a long line. My kids loved the drumming circle and the crashing cymbals... More
