Good museum

This is a good art museum, with several floors and one changing gallery by the main entrance. The temporary exhibits are often very good.

IU's Art Museum has art and archaeology galore with much of what is found in Indy. Much less crowded and free, we don't have to drive interstates to get here. Very easy to get to terrific restaurants after your visit.

My husband and I love the Indiana Memorial Museum. We can spend hours there looking at all the wonderful exhibits whenever we are in town. The permanent collection of Medieval to Contemporary is small but with great examples of the various periods. Small is good, because you can focus on each object for some time without feeling overwhelmed, and wanting... More

A nice surprising trip my daughter and I made while I lived in Bloomington was to the IU Art Museum. I can't recall specific displays, but the building's architectural layout and presentation spaces were excellent, with plenty of room to walk from one exhibit to another. As one of the Midwest's finest art and music schools (this admittedly from a... More

The building seems to be the main art exhibit on display at IU Art Museum; designed by a renowned architect, yet it fits really well with the rest of the campus architecture. The 3 levels of galleries feel a bit disconnected and exhibit vastly different art, so it is hard to pinpoint the strengths of this museum. If you're visiting... More

I spent a lot of time here in college as an an art major. The exhibits are great and offer a wonder variety of artists that you might not expect in a smaller art museum. This is a must when visiting IU!

We did not get a chance to view any exhibits this time. If you have very limited time, at least go up the stairs, have a look around and come down. The stairs in themselves are a big part of the experience. Park at IMU or at the Fee Lane Garage.

Wow - I must admit I don't go to many university art museums but this one is very impressive. The collection is housed on 3 floors of a dramatic building designed to house the University's art collection. From ancient times including Roman and Greek statuary, pottery, jewelry and more to 20th Century artists including Picasso this museum can easily take... More

Great selection of Art from Africa, South Pacific, Asia and the new world, a collection of Modern and traditional art. Worth a stop and it is free, beautiful building on Indiana University campus.
