Regardless of your religious preference, the Bahai House of Worship is worth a visit. The detail on the structure is remarkable. The grounds and fountains are well worth seeing. Enter by going down a flight of stairs to the visitors center. Take a short tour there. Take the elevator to the top to see the inside dome. Walk outside and... More

Never quite understood how/why this ended up in Wilmette, IL but being that Wilmette is as bland as it gets on the North Shore it's a welcome attraction.

Whenever I am in Chicago with people who are not from the area, one of the first places I take them is the Baha'i Temple. People are always amazed by its beauty and the people's openness. There is a visitor center you can go to in addition to the temple itself.

My relatives took me to this place, and I really enjoyed the visit! I am a Christian, and I got an opportunity to have a talk with one of the leaders. I do not agree with their theology, but I learned something new here.

The building is sparkling white. The grounds are not extensive and when we visited building work was in progress for the visitor centre. Chemical toilet cubicles were available, the best of the bunch were the larger proportioned ones. A Sunday service was on offer, with an Acapella choir, the sound of which, came through speakers. There was no sign of any... More

Visited just by chance on the way home from Chicago and what a surprise! The temple itself is just amazing. The architecture is beautiful and not knowing what the Bahai faith was, after hearing Dennis who gave us an in depth explanation, it opened my eyes to something very very interesting. It's the key to end all wars. All religions... More

It is a spiritual experience to just stand there feeling the peace full energy surrounding the temple. Is not only a beautiful building but an architectural piece of art. Take your time to walk around, and inside, go in silence, and remember to breath. In such beauty one can really forget

This is truly a gem in the beautiful North suburb of Wilmette. The drive alone from Chicago is worth it as you go by mansions on the lake and the lovely campus of Northwestern University in Evanston. I always recommend friends who visit Chicago to take the side trip and see the Baha'i Temple. This beautiful building just off the... More

A beautiful building on a beautiful site. Overlooking Lake Michigan and beautiful gardens, this stunning building is a peaceful place. The worship space is perfect for meditation. The small museum is interesting but you won't spend much time in it. This is one of the most unusual places in the Chicago area.
