love, Love, LOVED this place!! Everyone was super friendly and informative. It was SUPER hot when we visited so we stop in the gift shop for a drink. The store was cute and had some souvenirs. The gentleman in the barn with the horses was wonderful! He had so much to share about the horses, which you can pet :)... More

This place is really gifted in holding fairs and festivals through out the year. They have a Summer Fair, a Harvest Festival in the fall, Yuletide programming around Christmastime, a Sugar Bush festival in March, and a Spring festival - all with great food and activities for the whole family. You can find info on when these occur in the... More

Great place to bring the family or just to stroll around by yourself and commune with nature. Lots for kids to do at the nature center and the farm is great for the kids, Up close and personal with the cows and horses. Yes, they can be petted in the barn. Go back in time.

If you are in the Schaumburg area and have small children, you might want to visit this place. It is free but not really much to do. There were some chickens, cows and French Percheron horses and a few farm buildings to see. There was also a log cabin but the cabin was not open. In the nature center, there... More

Spring Valley is a wonderful escape of city life. Miles of nature paths, a beautiful lake, well maintained landscape. The native plants are beautiful and varied. There is also an early farmstead and working farm on the property. You see the usual farm animals: cows, horses, chickens. A wonderful place to escape!

Great nature center and hikes for all ages. Bring a stroller or a wagon for the little ones and head to the nature center or to the Merkle Cabin (I rented it for a Halloween party for 7th graders and they had a blast!) or the Heritage Farm for adventures. The park district has a host of programs to checkout.... More

So fresh, so relaxing to walk at Spring Valley. A piece of history kept alive in a suburban setting. See a working farm with animals the way our parents and grandparents would have seen it. See native plants and prairie. So many activists for all ages. A true treasure on the burbs, not to be missed.

This event was awesome. We went with my niece, her husband, and my great niece and nephew. The kids had a great time and so did the adults. Winter or summer, this is a great place to go.

Spring Valley is a wonderful place for a quiet solitary walk on its many nature trails or an educational visit to the 19th century farm with the kids. There are several different habitats ... woodland, wetland, farm, prairie and arboretum. Throughout the year, they also host many special events. The nature preserve has been an important part of my family's... More

Went there with a map and camera after some enquiry at registration desk. The people in Spring valley are very friendly and informative. Helped me a lot Map itself is self explanatory and with lot of signs, there is no chance of getting lost. So, I started my trail at 2pm with my camera and finished by 3:30. N that... More
