Go to Lookout Point at sunset. It is an absolutely beautiful sight! Be careful if you walk on the trails; wear good shoes. Worth the stop.

When it comes to some outdoor adventure in Illinois, all other state parks inevitably will be compared to Starved Rock. That's not to say a park like Mississippi Palisades is bad, but my wife and I found ourselves making said comparisons between the two during our first visit to the Palisades this past weekend. Though there are some really top-notch... More

There is train that goes by sometimes around every 20 minutes -- this includes all night long and even on weekends. The horn is prolonged and very loud. Terrible for sleeping. The camping sites are not separated from each other even by just a few trees. The sites are just in a big open area. The bathroom? No sink. No... More

It's a beautiful scenic park along the Mississippi River in Illinois. Nice hikes with some hills. Camping and picnic areas available.

the park and trails were well organized / our hike was great - good vistas and foliage. Our mistake - we were 2 to 3 weeks late to see the fall colors. We will return next year during the first or second week of October. We really enjoyed our time at the Park.

First time visiting this beautiful place. We were there on Sunday Oct 19th, the views are gorgeous, I loved the yellow leaves everywhere and the incredible views of the Mississippi! If you can visit this place during fall, do it! It is a wonderful time to go and see the leaves changing and the bright reds, oranges and yellows!
