Beautiful limestone bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River. Great to just drive through, or hike the rugged trails along the bluffs. Don't miss Lookout Point, which gives a panoramic view of the river, and the BNSF rail line that snakes along the banks. If you want family fun and entertainment and only mildly like the outdoors this probably is not the place to go. If you are searching for quiet hikes, stunning views and one of the most beautiful camp grounds in the states arsenal then this is the place. Have been visiting Savanna Illinois all my life, since that's where my family roots are. The Palisades park is beautiful, and worth seeing, if only to look out over the Mississippi River! more
