4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2012 NEW

I would give this 3 stars, but the wonderful views from the tops of the bluffs bump it up to 4 stars. I was disappointed with ease of finding and navigating some of the trails. They didn't seem to be well marked with signs and some of them were rather overgrown. I felt like I spent more time ducking and... More

Splendid, sweeping vistas of the Mississippi River, with a fair amount of hiking trails and a large campground that offers some secluded spots despite its size. More

Great place to spent a day hiking about. If it has rained recently before your visit you may see the waterfalls. Allow yourself plenty of time.to hike. More

This park has some of the most spectacular views of the upper Mississippi ever. For those who do not enjoy hiking - there are a couple of very easy to access lookout points. Great spot. Word of warning, for those traveling with younger children, beware there are some 200 foot bluffs. I would hate to read about a little one... More

We had planned to take our annual trip to Illinois Beach State Park, but the Park cancelled us because of storm damage. So we looked around for another park and settled on Mississippi Palisades, because it is close to Galena and we have been there before and liked it. The ranger told us that reservations are almost never necessary. There... More

We spent 3 nights tent camping here the starting July 8th. There were 6 of us and two tents. The grounds were very well-maintained. We arrived on Thursday without reservations and selected sites 219 and 220, side by side, very spacious, grass recently mowed and bordered by woods on three sides giving us a great deal of privacy. We had... More
