We took our 2 and 4 year old to Nicholson Conservatory! It is beautiful, relaxing and kid friendly. We were there for one of the butterfly exhibits and the kids got to see them up close. One landed on the 2 year old. This place is very clean and along the Rock River for walking and a picnic. One of... More

Nicholas conservatory has a host of different events through the year. I've been here for the butterfly exhibit and the orchids exhibits. Both were great. Even when the exhibits aren't running they've some great plants and flowers to see. Always something going on for the kids. And even just taking a walk outside of it by the river is lovely.... More

The small but well done conservatory is a great place to stop and enjoy the variety and beauty of nature. A walk along the river is always a great option,

Just was spending a day in Rockford so we came here and it was a nice place. The gardens inside were beautiful as they had several tropical plants and flowers. I even saw a small lizard which was neat. They had a butterfly exhibit but didn't go in it since butterflies aren't my thing. The outdoor gardens weren't bloomed yet... More

This was out second visit, and we are impressed with the variety of plants and trees. It's a small space, which is ideal for a short visit and lots of benches to rest, contemplate, and take photos. The butterfly exhibit was terrific -- first time I have seen a display of emerging butterflys. Go on tropical Tuesday if you can... More

It's a nice place for pictures and to wander. You won't spend more than a couple hours (at most). Admission rather high for what you see/experience. Nice to go during winter when there's snow outside. Go on special-rate and free days.
