I love taking my family to Rockford's Discovery Center. We have a 2-year family membership which also gets you into the Museum of Science and Industry, the Adler Planetarium, and many other museums nationwide for free, and the membership is only $35 more than a Museum of Science and Industry membership of ONE year. There's activities for kids of all... More

Thank you so much for the positive review. We are glad you are able to enjoy our museum as well as other museums using the Association of Science and Technology Centers passport program for memberships. I do want to point out, though, that museums within 90 miles of each other have the option of not offering reciprocal membership. For example,... More

Lots of interactive science displays for the whole family. My kids really like making a bubble over their body. The outside play ground is the best!

Thanks for the kind review of Discovery Center Museum. We are happy to hear your family enjoyed themselves. The Body Bubble is a favorite exhibit for many of our visitors, and our outdoor park is loads of fun too. We hope you come back again soon! More

we are actually members of this museum so it makes it that much worse. I was with my daughter who has a form of Autisum called Asburgers . In the art center the project was making bookmarks. My daughter wanted to use the ADL siccerors to cut the un even pices of paper. Yhings like this bother her extremely.she also... More

On behalf of the staff at Discovery Center, I apologize for your negative experience with our staff member regarding the adaptive tools. We strive to create exhibits and programs that are accessible, and we have special scissors and other tools made just for children with special needs. Your family is welcome anytime to our museum, but we also do offer... More

My 1 and 3 year old had fun. Got a good deal on tickets with groupon. We will definitely come back when they're older. They don't understand how anything works, but there's more than I thought there would be for their size.

Thanks for your review. We are so pleased that you and your children enjoyed the museum. The Tot Spot on our second floor is specifically designed for children age 6 and younger. In the next year or so, we will be increasing the size and number of exhibits in our Tot Spot. So come back and see us again! More

This place is like the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, only better. Only once did a group of sugared up children enter a room and go crazy, making it impossible for any child to do or learn any thing. We just went to another room and came back later. Spent three hours there with the eight year old,... More

Thanks so much for your review. We are so happy you and your child enjoyed your time at Discovery Center. If you didn't make it to our outdoor park, you need to visit again soon! The park is about 8,500 sq feet and contains a 2-story maze, Whisper Dishes, swings, slides, a cave, a dinosaur dig pit and a Secret... More

My family has been to a lot of museums, including more than our fair share of children's and science centers, but this was one of our favorites. It's not the largest or fanciest, but it has a wide variety of exhibits appealing to toddlers to preteens (and even adults). Just as importantly, most actually teach some scientific lesson! They also... More

Thank you for your recent review. We are so happy your family enjoyed their visit. We pride ourselves on having exhibits that will entertain and educate people of all ages! Because we are focused so much on science, our exhibits tend to interest older children as well as younger kids, unlike most children's museums. We hope you visit again on... More

My grandkids have been visiting for a month, so we decided to take the short road trip up to Rockford (about 75 minutes from where we live near Chicago). After our picnic lunch, we entered the museum and the rest is history. My grandkids are 4 and 7. They immediately started touching, moving, and otherwise interacting the hands on exhibits.... More

I think Grandpa had just as much fun as the grandchildren did. It is fun for all ages. There is a separate area for Toddlers so there are things to do at their level. The cost is well worth it and if you know you will be going back you can get a membership. Other museum memberships give a discount... More
