A great place to visit, the museum was so quirky and a really interesting town.

We visited the museum on our Route 66 trip and I would recommend stopping here for a bit of sightseeing. Some beautiful buildings in the area too but I digress, back to the museum! Plenty of 66 memorabilia on display, a marvelous camper van in the middle of the place decorated with a rough Route 66 map and much more... More

I had hoped this museum would have more classic cars. There are only a couple that I could find. Out back there is a bus that was converted into a motor home by a man who drove Rt 66 his whole life. If the employees are not too busy, they'll take you on a tour inside the bus. Inside the... More

When we drove into Pontiac, I fell in love with this gorgeous town who has the biggest respect for Route 66 than any other town. They have embraced the Mother Road with lots of gorgeous things to look at. They also have painted murals everywhere and the best place to start is at the Route 66 Association Hall of Fame... More

The things to see are incredible. Bob Waldmire's Bus Home, his VW bus inside the museum. If there is no one on duty in Bob's bus home, ask the lady inside the Route 66 museum to call someone to let you in. They will do it if they have to call the mayor himself. His name is Bob too. So... More

Four floors of very cool stuff from the entire length of Route 66. Ajoining this museum was a military museum staffed by veterans and eager to explain thing to you. Also quite impressive.

This small museum was donation-based and had a lot of readable materials about the areas that Route 66 went/goes through. Worth the stop.

Great picture opportunity in back, with huge mural of Route 66 sign on wall. Many travelers on their Harley's parked right in front of the mural, to enhance the picture. Had some great conversations with other Route 66 travelers. Bob Waldmire's VW bus and redesigned school bus are onsite. Waldmire's personality was the inspiration for the Car's character Filmore. Don't... More

Museum was packed with Route 66 artifacts gather from the part of the route from Chicago to Pontiac. Lots to see. Very friendly staff. Museum was free and included a fantastic military museum upstairs. Extremely interesting. Also had displays of family living in the 50's. Glad we stopped. Worth the trip. It would take several visits to see all they... More
