Barra is a lovely area. it is along way to travel by car & can be spoiled by extortionist traffic police in Maputo..

Wonderful, clean beaches and clear water. Can walk for hours feeling safe and secure and just marvel at the tranquility of the area.

Walked at low tide to Barra for about 3 miles to the lighthouse and then around point to most amazing sheltered white sand beach. Miles long. Beautiful setting with little inland salt lake /pond. Range of bars and next to no one there! South Africans all left. Found a raised bar restaurant just off the beach and had an amazing... More

This beach is a golden strip of absolute beauty. The beach is clean, water is warm and ideal for boogie boarding and kite flying when the wind is strong. The local are very helpful and you can haggle for a price on the local products.

Spent the week at Tofo Beach which is outstanding . Great for budget travelers . For a change of scenery we went to Barra Beach Resort which was a terrible experience. We were told we could not bring out chairs , umbrellas and eats to the beach. To me it smacked of segregation - keeping the locals out with obscure... More

By chance we came across a holiday get away almost a 1000 km's away from Johannesburg in a double story villa - in Inhambane's Barra Beach in Mozambique. (The province of Inhambane (roughly 68,615 km² in size) is located along the southern coast of the country, with its capital of the same name found nestled alongside a very lengthy estuary.... More

Clear, warm water and beautiful white sands is what Barra beach is all about. It also offers big, tasty, juicy prawns that you've never tasted before. For a peaceful, safe holiday, Barra Beach is the place to visit

Loved the Barra lodge we stayed at, with the wonderful swimming pool, complete with sails, the food was great, and the owners and their staff really great. Our large villa was right on the pristine sand about 75 metres from the waters edge.
