Spent the week at Tofo Beach which is outstanding . Great for budget travelers . For a change of scenery we went to Barra Beach Resort which was a terrible experience. We were told we could not bring out chairs , umbrellas and eats to the beach. To me it smacked of segregation - keeping the locals out with obscure... More

By chance we came across a holiday get away almost a 1000 km's away from Johannesburg in a double story villa - in Inhambane's Barra Beach in Mozambique. (The province of Inhambane (roughly 68,615 km² in size) is located along the southern coast of the country, with its capital of the same name found nestled alongside a very lengthy estuary.... More

Clear, warm water and beautiful white sands is what Barra beach is all about. It also offers big, tasty, juicy prawns that you've never tasted before. For a peaceful, safe holiday, Barra Beach is the place to visit

Loved the Barra lodge we stayed at, with the wonderful swimming pool, complete with sails, the food was great, and the owners and their staff really great. Our large villa was right on the pristine sand about 75 metres from the waters edge.

Best swimming, snorkeling, viewing of fish even without Gear, and shells .... endless beauty disliked the interruptions from hawkers, no control on beach by authorities to prevent the persistent sales pitches or begging.

Barra is beautiful but we visited on the 1st of January and was not happy sharing the hotel pool/beach/restaurant with all the local people. There was no privacy the resort was to busy. The restaurant still offers some of the best seafood.

Beautiful sandy beach and can walk for miles. Only issue is hawkers everywhere.... Best time to walk is from 5:30 to 7 am in the morning to avoid them and also good to avoid the blistering African sun. Lots of nice bars to enjoy midday on the beach in the shade.

Walk the length of the beach and stop by the vendors to see what they have for sale. Enjoy a beverage at the bars, restauarants along the way. The end closer to Flamingo Bay is very quiet with one one around.

Little cabana styled umbrellas on the beach make it incredibly inviting to visit and spend the day on this beach. With Barra beach club just a few steps away. Pop into their quaint bar and have a cocktail to cool down. Best was the piano colada made with real coconut water!!
