I'm not sure "travelers" would have much use for a Library (unless it was too nasty to be outside) but this is a wonderful library. It's not "quiet" the way I think of a library from my childhood, but that's because it's bustling. Very airy and plenty of comfortable seating in which to relax and peruse the collection. Quite a... Terrific place to visit with multiple levels and an elevator/stairs. Bright with lower level redone for more seating. Underground parking available if needed. Walkable and conveniently located to downtown Oak Park and across from a nice park.

Beyond its well designed building, the Oak Park Public Library is notable for its many programs. One that we assist is a series of free folk music concerts that is usually well attended. Others include visiting authors, art exhibits, a photography class and job hunting help.

I am a volunteer and patron at the library. As a volunteer I have observed staff as they assisted library patrons. Staff is so kind, so patient, so knowledgeable, and so available to everyone who requests help or even just looks in need of assistance. There are so many services available besides the typical lending of books. I often download audio... More

I am a regular user of the Oak Park Public Library, mainly the Maze Branch which is within convenient walking distance from my apartment. The main library is open seven days a week, the Maze Branch is closed on Fridays, but open on Sunday. The Dole Branch, closed Mondays, open Sundays. As a matter of fact, when other libraries were... This is a terrific community facility. Particularly impressive is the childrens section where there is all manner if interactive experiences available. In addition to a huge range of nooks, there is music, movies, computers, story time, the list goes on.

Out-of-towners probably aren't going to put this on their list for a visit. However, any resident is a fool not to use this facility. Having moved out-of-state and into a public library system that can't even compare, the OP Library has a plethora of offerings. I always found every book I needed. DVD and CD collection may not be the... More
