I gave this an average rating but that is only because I am not from around here nor am I interested in history that only goes back such a short time (I'm more of an ancient history buff). I had my 15 year old son with me and it was not terribly interesting for him. But I give the town... More

We stopped in here on the first day we started doing Route 66. The staff members were the most friendly people that I have met. They sat down with us and ran through the spots to stop at in Illinios on Route 66. They have a little gift shop with Route 66 items plus a few museum exhibits to look... More

I celebrated my birthday Saturday, July 11. The rooftop of the museum is beautiful. It is a great venue to have a party. The event coordinator is extremely helpful and accommodating and I would love to have another party there. My guests were so surprised that a party venue like this was available in Joliet. Go to one of the... More

The Tour guide was very helpful, the exhibits informative and interactive. We spent a few hours browsing the Houboldt Space exhibits, the Civil war exhibit, and the information about the I & M Canal, Joliet Prison, limestone quarrying and steel industry. An interesting and entertaining afternoon for those curious about the history of the Joliet area.

Loved the car inside with the radio buttons from different decades. The gift shop has lots of Route 66 items for sale. Enjoyed seeing the 'cars' set up like they were at the drive-in. Hoping the street post gets restored.

I highly recommend this museum in the heart of Joliet-make a day of it-come for the casino or the slammers baseball but make a side trip the the museum Highly worth while for all ages! Well done displays with so much history and information inside-my favorite is the nasa exhibit featuring a Joliet native who designed and invented the LEM... More

This is always a must see for house guests from out of town. We usually take visitors here for a one stop history lesson on Joliet, they also have special exhibits and events that are constantly changing. The staff is always very helpful and accommodating! Becoming a member is the best way to go, not only are you supporting a... More

Decided to make a stop here while out for a joy ride. So glad we did, they have a special display right now on the 3 prison's in the area that is VERY informative!!!! Two of them are closed down and rotting away, the 3rd is still in operation. The rest of the museum, although small is very interesting, with... More
