Although we experienced terrible rain the day of our visit, it didn't dampen our spirits. GOG is such a beautiful, haunting place that it almost looks other wordly! It is easy to remain on the trail or hop up on nearby rock formations to snap terrific photos. From what a friend told me, there is also a nearby lake and cabins... More

Fun time with friends. We visited the observation area which was a quick hike. I recommend this if you don't have longer than 45 minutes to spare.

I enjoyed jumping from rock formation to rock formation for hours. Ran thru gulleys. Nice views, Great to watch a sunset or sunrise. Parking is good and close. Short hikes available. Views, Views, Views. Great for pictures. Has to be great in the fall with all the color changes.

This is probably the most scenic spot in Illinois. No need to go to Colorado for scenic views. One note. Keep an eye on the children. There are many, many dangerous overlooks.

I have visited here numerous times. Even at my age, the park is very accessible for hiking and picnicking. The trails are well-maintained and clearly marked as to difficulty.

Super fun place to explor! This is such an adult play ground! You can climb up and down the rock formations. Just be mindful that there are no fences to keep you from falling off the rock formations to your death, so, please be cautious and use common sense.

The rock formations here are sensational, and it is amazing to think all of it was sculpted by waters thousands of years ago. The trail that takes you to most of the big rocks is about a quarter of a mile, so if you are driving all the way in, you might want to check out some of the other... More

This is a senior's delight. FREE! Doable. Go as far as you would like at your own pace. Mostly shaded with trees. We took our friends out there and they were awe struck. We went on the observation tour but didn't go the entire way. It was hot out there but the shaded areas helped. We are seniors and it... More

Garden of the Gods is a place we have visited many, many times and it never gets old. Beautiful rock formations in a forested area, off the beaten path. Provides quiet time to just enjoy the beauty of nature. Hate to see the graffiti on the wooden viewing platform and the restrooms while I realize they are au-natural, could use... More

This one of the prettiest spots in southern IL, if you have traveled from Chicago and went thru the flat lands of central IL you will be shocked with the great rocks and formations in this area!
