Busse Woods has an extensive trail system. The main loop is a little over 6 miles of paved bike/walking path, but there are several miles of additional paved spur paths, as well as many side trails through the woods. It will take you through woods and fields, beside lakes, over dams, and around the elk grove, where you can watch... More

A heavily wooded biking/hiking nature preserve that is heavily wooded. It is laced with ponds throughout and is a peaceful place to take a walk, ride your bike or have a family picnic.

We love Busse Woods, the trails are very nice for a run or bike ride. My favorite new discovery is the boat rental place on the water. They have canoes, paddle boats, kayaks, etc. Friendly people who provide good service and very reasonable prices.

We traveled to the Schaumburg area for the holiday weekend and wanted to take a good walk on July 4th. We chose the Busse Woods Trail System. It is a beautiful, paved path that winds through timber, along lakes and past an elk habitat. Seeing elk on our walk was definitely a surprise! There were plenty of restrooms available along... More

Felt guilty spending so much time indoors shopping at the nearby Oakton Antiques Centre (they do have a.c. & cookies),so I drove over to the woods for some fresh air and sunshine. And to see the elk, of course! The trail was crowded with cyclists, skaters, joggers and walkers like me. While I enjoyed the paved trail, it was not... More

The forest preserve is home to a herd of Elk along the bike trail. Very interesting to see. The bike trails have bridges over the highways so the trails are safely away from cars. The views are spectacular. Trees, lakes, forest, deer, sail boats, and the Elk. We love this place.

Had time to kill and decided to walk with our children on the trail on a beautiful day. It was wonderful to be in such a populated area and to get lost amongst nature. I wish we had more time. We will be back to walk again.

I frequent the "trails" at Busse Woods at least 2 times a week during the warmer Chicago months (if they exist any more) and they are nice for running or biking but beware, especially on weekends, they will be extremely crowded. Getting a good pace, especially on a bike, can be difficult and some people, like any where else, lack... More

Alittle slice of paradise in the busy suburbs. I used to ride this trail 2-3 times a week when I lived nearby. Visit the live Elk Herd at the corner of 72 and Arlington Hts Road; a special treat for children. Excellent paved trail winds through the woods and past several lake scenes. Parking in numerous areas. There are bridges... More

I just love this park. We come here many times of the year to go for a walk, fishing or biking. The Elks are so nice to watch and in Autumn they are very active, making funny noises. I like the mix of forest and open spaces as well as the beautiful lakes. You can spend much time there.
